First time above sea level in more than a year and still without an E through 9 games. That’s pretty good.
I’m still bullish on Matz. I know he’s got a clunker coming up, but we haven’t seen it yet. He keeps the ball down and in the park. This isn’t smoke and mirrors. Game Ball to Matz. Hat-tip to the pen.
Do the unthinkable and root for the Mets. If they beat the Reds we will not be in last place finally.
Good win! Cards got good pitching, good defense and just enough offense today. Like to see the bats warm up.
I know Scott can’t hit yet, but I like how the teem plays with him on it. So far we seem good enough to carry his bat in the everyday lineup.
I’m encouraged, but it’s going to take more than 10.1 IP’ed in 2 turns before I’m confident when Matz takes gets the baseball. So far, so good.

He’s almost completely ditched his curveball, and it seems to be working for him so far. Could be spurious, but his pitch mix has been a little different so far this year.
The Cubs have an Otis patch on their sleeves. Is that for Amos Otis, or Otis Nixon?…In any event, I didn’t know either of those guys played for the Cubbies…
Matz was good today but only getting 5IP out of your starter will catch up with you eventually. Fortunately yesterday was an off day so all of our good relievers were available today.
1td, ARI series, as the earliest for Gray, last I heard. That series is this Fri – Sunday on the road. TBD.

Good to get a series at home against the only winless team in either league – you have to do that so nothing to get too thrilled about.
At some point though the starters need to go 6 and 7 and you can’t bring Helsley in every game.

Just looked at the box and saw the second best thing about that game. The time of the game was 2:18! Wow, like the old days.
Yeah, Gibson the only member of the rotation to provide 7 innings in his turn, but that’s to be expected from a guy who’s namesake collected 255 CG’s.
