The Edwin Nunez starter experiment is not going well. His ERA is almost 9 and he’s got 2 on with no one out again for his 3rd inning tonight with Springfield.

Gorman strikes out looking at another low strike. Sigh.

Top of 9. Sean Reid-Foley your new Met hurler. We certainly would not be adverse to an insurance run or two this inning.

Gorman – Caught looking for strike 3….fourth time they’ve been caught gazing when they should have been swinging, in this game.

Crawford- Flies out to Nimmo in short left field about 10 feet off the chalk.

    Siani – Strikes out swinging.

At Age 7 Kitty got lit up by a local high school team…….that was beautiful, Jnevel! Well I guess he hasn’t had a similar bad pitching experience since.

It might not actually be true Pugs . . . I’m the color guy here but there’s no one policing my data.

Man do I love how Romero, Kittredge, and Helsley are pitching. They are all almost unhittable. That’s a winner folks!

A 5 hit offense isn’t much, but tonight it was enough. Solid pitching, mostly.

You sure were the color guy tonight, Jnevel……and a darn good one. Let me know the next game you’re available to hop on up in the booth with me. Oh….and we don’t do this for free. Check with Brian……tell him Pugs said to spice up your paycheck a bit.

Great job bringing this one home, gents!! I did not like that Palacios trade at all, but at least we got something for him and Kitty has been lights out.

Now had we kept Palacios he would be our center fielder, and that might have won us a game or two. But right now I can’t complain.

Pugs, Brian has been shorting me then!

My issue is that I normally just have to follow on Gameday because all my games are blocked out on the MLB app. I can see them on ESPN, Apple TV, and Fox. I believe tomorrow is a Fox game.

I live about 30 miles west of Busch Stadium. It was pouring rain here all evening. No reason to even check to see if the game was going to be played. Tonight’s game, obviously, was going to be postponed. We have Apple TV.

Not sure what you’re saying, Mud. The game was in New York tonight. And thank God it wasn’t postponed.

Despite little offense, I just don’t get the bad vibes we had last year. Our pitching has been much improved, with an outstanding bullpen. I’d like us to find a one year rental cf with a little (or lot) of pop in their bat. I just don’t see Carlson coming back and having an impact. There has a decent to good cf defensively that fits this description. Siani just doesn’t hit anything.

Pillar was just DFA’d by the CWS. He’s good for an 80 ops+ over the last 4-5 seasons. Plus D and a RH bat.

We could have an AARP rotation and bench of Carp, Crawford, Pillar….

Mikolas with a game score of 52. He now has a 43 GmSc avg for 2024, with 50 being neutral when both starters begin each game.
If he can avoid the 31, 32 and 37 type starts, we can win with him, but he has as many 30’s as he does 50’s. That’s showing more downside than upside.

In an early effort to show upside, here are the cherry picked 3 best starts from each SP, by GmSc….

    Gray, 62, 70, 66 = 66 avg
    Gibson, 63, 62, 61 = 62 avg
    Lynn, 63, 61, 58 = 60.6 avg
    Mikolas, 55, 53, 52 = 53.3 avg
    Matz, 61, 51, 40 = 50.6 avg

Today, I wish the options for 25′ were on Mikolas and Matz, instead of Gibson and Lynn. TBD.

Good pitching and defense. Like the way Siani plays center field but wish he could hit even around .240.

Still the offense is not enough to compete with the likes of Milwaukee and Chicago. We would need the three vets, Goldy, Nado and Willie to have seasons near their top years and solid seasons from a couple of the younger guys in order to be in the post season hunt.
