And if the Cubs lose tonight, we will be in a tie for 2nd place in the division…

Helsley is way down on strikeouts and is giving up some hard contact. I think it’s overuse that is catching up but hard to be certain.

In my view the contact isn’t nearly as troublesome as the BB’s.

Yeah, Helsley has dodged bullets in his last three outings. He will need to be better when he comes in to a one run game.

Good series win. At the .500 mark. Who da thunk it a couple of weeks ago.

We face the Cubs 11 more times before we face the Brewers again on August 20th.

Good to get the win! However, the back of the bull pen has been a bit shaky lately.

Sure glad I didn’t spend any of my pre-work time making a disparaging post about Pallante and the wisdom involved with starting him today. I did get to listen to the whole game.

So I have said this before, Pallante’s stats as a starter in 2022 were pretty darn good and he pitched pretty well at Memphis this year as a starter to go a long with this start today….he had no starts in 2023.

I think it’s pretty apparent his arm doesn’t bounce back as a reliever…so hopefully they will learn from this and keep him the #5 starter or #6 starter when/if they make a trade for another starter.

What’s the status on Middleton…if healthy he could help out the bullpen quite a bit.

    What’s the status on Middleton

“Cardinals right-hander Keynan Middleton is headed for an MRI on his right elbow and forearm this Friday, manager Oli Marmol tells the Cardinals beat (X link via John Denton of MLB.com). There’s now concern that he could require a repair or replacement of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, Denton adds.” blurb on MLBTR.
