What’s the forecast for Saturday’s game in St. Louis? Hopefully it will be better than the weather they had on Thursday for Opening Day.

The weather really wasn’t that bad. A little chilly, but no rain or delays. And if I had my druthers I’d rather throw on a jacket and sit through a little chill than swelter in a blistering 105 degrees along with humidity not unlike that of the Republic of the Congo…

Marlins are 0-8. Is Skip going to survive April?

I talked to several people who were at the game Thursday. All said it was frigid.

It appears to me the scouting report is already out on Victor Scott II. Teams have been pitching him up in the zone. They want him to hit the ball in the air as opposed to on the ground so he can run like the wind.

Maybe Oli should bet with Scott – every time he hit’s it on the ground Oli gives Vic $1. Every time Vic hits it in the air Vic gives Oli $1. This is what Vince Coleman and Whitey Herzog did years ago.

    Hmmmmm…..Vince and Victor. Interesting.

Coleman was helped by the artifical turf at Busch II.

On a good note…..Front Row Amy is back in 2024! She was in the front row tonight for the Brewers game with Seattle!

I think that’s about the best line up we can run out there for now.

At 4-4 and with all the early injuries it’s pretty hard to complain at this point.

Steven Matz threw 81 pitch vs the Dodgers his last outing, 51 for strikes. He competed well in the strike zone vs a plus-plus lineup. He faced 21 Dodgers and recorded 16 outs.

Two times thru their order Matz was ahead 4-0. Third time thru their order he allowed a pair of doubles which both eventually scored, one while Kittredge relieved.

6 IP and nearly three times thru the order vs the Marlins seems possible. The opportunity is there and if he’s finishing strong, possibly 90 pitches. TBD.

Looks like Burleson is in today’s revised lineup at DH.

Substituting him in for a late injury scratch shows just how much Oli respects his hitting potential . . .

That’s a very winnable lineup today.

That is one pitiful lineup construction. As my grandma used to say, “I swear to high heaven that I don’t know what’s wrong with people.”

Burleson has always played mostly vs RHP. That he wasn’t originally in the lineup vs a lefty is nothing remarkable. When he plays vs lefties he does ok.

I wonder if Contreras felt some pain in his hand during BP?

I liked the Contreras/Herrera combo in the lineup versus LHP.

    @JohnDenton555
C/DH Willson Contreras was scratched as a precautionary move because of soreness in his left hand, per the #STLCards.

Herrera clean-up? One home run and he is in the cleanup spot. Think I would have gone this way:

    Winn
    Donovan
    Goldschmidt
    Arenado
    Herrera
    Gorman
    Walker
    Burleson
    Scott

On another note, with the ‘Lins off to a horrible start, I wonder if they would think of moving Luzardo? Might be worthwhile for Mo to approach them about a possible deal.

The HBP the other day looked like it got him pretty good. Lots of little bones to get in the way.
