Fernandez showing that rule 5 form now.
April 7, 2024 at 3:10 pm #247001So, I guess Donovan is the late inning defensive replacement for Arenado at 3rd.
April 7, 2024 at 3:12 pm #247002I guess King is a guy you can throw away in a game like this as well. But that’s it. Don’t sacrifice anyone else Ollie.
April 7, 2024 at 3:13 pm #247003Yeah, Pugs, they were good when the NFL was really good and that original 1970’s MNF song really got you amped up for the game. I just looked it up and the name of the song was “Heavy Action”…Haha!
April 7, 2024 at 3:17 pm #247004The out of town scoreboard shows Milwaukee winning big and Pittsburgh won, so we will drop another game behind and likely stay in the cellar.
April 7, 2024 at 3:17 pm #247005Looks like Skip will be available at the end of the year.

April 7, 2024 at 3:20 pm #247006Cubs up on LA 6-0 as well. Only the Reds look like a loser today in the NLC, other than our club.
April 7, 2024 at 3:24 pm #247007The 10-1 score looks really bad, but I don’t guess it’s any worse than a 2-1 final. What made this one hurt was that it was out of reach before I could get any mustard on my hot dog.
April 7, 2024 at 3:26 pm #247008Congrats to Pages.

jj-cf-stlParticipantO my, 10-1
Turns out I picked the right game to be late to.April 7, 2024 at 3:30 pm #247011Pages the late inning defensive replacement for Goldy.
April 7, 2024 at 3:54 pm #247013
jj-cf-stlParticipantDown 5 after 1? 2023 all over again.
Looks like Gibson stayed and ate innings thru the 6th ✅ (Give me the short scoreless 5 inning start everyday)
When behind relievers used, day off for the good relievers ✅
Gorman HR to CF ✅ (next one is the “rocket”, just about there)
April 7, 2024 at 4:03 pm #247014They were down by 6 runs after 1, JJ. Gibson was touched up for a pair of 3 run taters in the visitor half of the 1st.

jj-cf-stlParticipantSeems like they are ready to pitch Gray sooner than vs ARI. Likely limited pitch count?
April 7, 2024 at 4:19 pm #247019They said he’ll take his first turn Tues. vs. the Phillies. I’d guess they’ll limit him to under 100 pitches…

ParticipantThat’s a shame about skip after what he did last season but you could see the writing on the wall before season began. Hopefully the marlins will stay terrible after that, teamscshould get what they deserve.
April 7, 2024 at 4:26 pm #247021Siani’s first career extra base hit is a triple.
April 7, 2024 at 4:27 pm #247022Gorman with another tater in this game. Need to get him ripping the baseball in games that are within reach.
April 7, 2024 at 4:29 pm #247023Burleson with another soft out to end it.
April 7, 2024 at 4:34 pm #247024Grey has 65 pitch limit.
It sound like Skip is not wanting to stay in Miami anyway with NG forced out and Bendix in.
April 7, 2024 at 5:05 pm #247032
jj-cf-stlParticipantGorman out to CF again. Imagine that 🙂
April 7, 2024 at 5:24 pm #247037The pitcher we roughed up in the 9th is a 34 year old guy who pitched in Japan in 2022 and for the Dodgers AAA team last year, posting a 6.05 ERA. Marlins signed him to a minor league contract over the winter. This seems to have been his first appearance of the season.
April 7, 2024 at 5:38 pm #247039We continue to be the worst team in the NLC over the first 10 games of the season. This game also dropped us to -5 as far as runs scored versus runs allowed, again worst in the NLC.
Also the teams we have played have a combined 14-19 record, so it’s not like we have had a tough early schedule. But then again, those numbers are skewed by Miami’s horrible start, and the fact that 4 of our 10 games have been against an 8-3 team.
Not a lot to get excited about yet – we do not look all that much improved over last year. However, the defense does look much better. That is the one noticeable area of improvement in the few games played so far. Let’s hope this is an indicator of more good run prevention as we progress in 2024.
A long way to go – anything can happen. I am surprised at the good early play by Milwaukee. I thought of them as more of a rebuilding club this year, but they have come out strong in the first 10 days or so.
April 7, 2024 at 6:15 pm #247042Defense is much improved so far.
Offense is disappointing.
Starting Pitching…meh.
Bullpen is less than I’d hoped.
Playing like a .500ish team.
Need a spark.April 7, 2024 at 6:45 pm #247045Rough day today. The positive is that the team has won two series in a row. Hoping for a third series victory next.
