I’d say that’s the defensive play of the season from the Nootz. Saved the game.
May 22, 2024 at 4:53 pm #253250First sweep of the year…move their record to 3-12 in final series games
May 22, 2024 at 4:56 pm #253252Cardinals are now in 3rd place which is as high on the food chain as they’ve been all season.
May 22, 2024 at 4:57 pm #253253PA, Arenado seems to have a little Molina in him on infield grounders. It just doesn’t look good.
May 22, 2024 at 5:03 pm #253254No, it really doesn’t. Today wasn’t the first time I’ve missed Scott Rolen.
May 22, 2024 at 5:07 pm #253255Wow we swept the Orioles! I am amazed!
Now can we please sweep the dastardly Cubs? Is that asking too much?
Seriously though it is nice to finally see a little run of decent baseball after all of the garbage we have witnessed the last year and a half. And what is really amazing is we closed this game out with the B bullpen. Way to go King, Leahy, and Fernandez!
May 22, 2024 at 5:18 pm #253256Yeah GS, it takes all 26. At any rate, 8-2 in their last 10 games constitutes winning baseball in my book.
May 22, 2024 at 5:18 pm #253257Wait, was that rule 5 guy in a save situation?
May 22, 2024 at 5:37 pm #253258Yes, Fernandez got the save thanks to a great play by Nootbaar
May 22, 2024 at 5:45 pm #253259Miracles never cease. Good on them for sweeping the O’s. I didn’t think they had it in them. Maybe they have a pulse after all.
May 22, 2024 at 6:29 pm #253261With us pasting Baltimore 5-6 games over the past 2 seasons, their memories of us will not be fond ones. Unfortunately, there’s too many teams out there during this OE (Oli Era) who have wonderful thoughts when thinking of their experiences playing the Cardinals. But maybe those days are gone? Could this team have already turned the corner and are poised to play winning baseball for long periods of time? Much will be learned from this upcoming series with the cubbies. We’re not going to sweep them, but I think 2-3 is a very good possibility.
May 22, 2024 at 6:51 pm #253262The Orioles had not been swept in 106 straight series until now.
May 22, 2024 at 7:59 pm #253267I’ll be darned. I would never have guessed even half that number. That’s a couple of seasons worth.
May 22, 2024 at 8:23 pm #253270Wow, they sure proved me wrong. The club had a good stretch last year as well, but it was fools gold. Will this positive trend continue or be a blip in the long season? We will see the next chapter this weekend.
May 22, 2024 at 8:26 pm #253271I wonder if Cub fans got all the tickets while the getting was good.
May 22, 2024 at 8:48 pm #253277Could be a really good day. Brewers lose 1-0 to the Marlins, Cubs down 9-2 to the Braves in the 9th, and the Giants lead the Pirates 7-5 in extras.
May 22, 2024 at 8:59 pm #253280Winn now has a 13 game hit streak.
May 22, 2024 at 9:19 pm #253281This team is getting more watchable by the day!
May 22, 2024 at 9:23 pm #253282Except on Sundays.
May 22, 2024 at 9:26 pm #253284Got to listen to the end of the game today. Good to see the Redbirds hang on and sweep the O’s. Good to see the team go on a run here. Hoping they continue this play against the Cubs.
Maybe this is the start of something big!
May 23, 2024 at 7:03 am #253289The Orioles had not been swept in 106 straight series until now.
Not having had to visit Busch in any of those 106 series certainly enhanced their chances for accomplishing this truly amazing feat. Yes, these Baltimorians got schooled in this series, but as I alluded to yesterday, this is a fine young Orioles squad, capable of eventually doing grandiose things. Getting swept in this series will not totally be a negative experience……if……if they took note of how this upstart St. Louis squad went about conducting business in victory ….in 3 consecutive victories. Call this a potential learning experience for them. If these Orioles continue improving, who knows, maybe they’ll come in to Busch and steal a game when they pay us a visit in 2026 or 2028.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGood job guys, sorry I missed the finish, but those granddaughter softball games are must see!
We took the group to Dairy Delight in Washington, Mo before the game. A locals cheeseburger, rings and a shake burger joint, that ranks as our favorite in mid-Mo.
Teams on a roll can find a way to win, can’t they? Hat-tip to the bullpen. That’s a plus lineup they were challenged with.
