RHP Kyle Gibson (15-9, 4.73 in 2023) vs. RHP Matt Waldron (1-3, 4.35 in 2023)

Also Bally Sports South/Southwest ExtraMarch 31, 2024 at 9:29 pm #245926Anybody know why Gorman does nothing but strikeout? It’s all he’s ever done. Why can’t he find someway to keep from striking out all the time? If he bats 550 times this year he’s going to strike out maybe as many as 200 times.
You cannot have your #3 hitter doing nothing but striking out all the time. Didn’t he strikeout four (4) times Sunday night?

March 31, 2024 at 9:33 pm #245928I hope Kyle G. brings his ‘A’ game tomorrow night.
April 1, 2024 at 10:19 am #245966Rat, Gorman is a low average all or nothing hitter with an optimised swing that generates big velo when he connects. He has zero situational hitting skills and strikes out a ton. That kind of hitter is a rally killer if he is up in the lineup. Having a rally killer ensconced in the 3 slot would have to become demoralizing for the other guys.
April 1, 2024 at 11:56 am #245973As Brian mentioned in a different thread I suspect Shildt will have his team fired up for this series. You don’t think he wants to stick it to Mo and the Cardinals?
April 1, 2024 at 12:56 pm #245979The reason Gorman strikes out a lot is because his keeps missing the ball with his bat. He needs to correct that.
April 1, 2024 at 1:03 pm #245980Z. I think from the organization’s point of view, the problem is the ball keeps missing his bat.
April 1, 2024 at 2:13 pm #245985I am a die hard lifetime Cards fan. But I strongly believe that the “organization” was on the wrong side of the philosophical differences leading to Mike Shildt ‘s curious
removal. History has proven that out.It would not pain me terribly to see SD and Mr. Shildt blister the Cards in this series.
Then back to business vs. Miami.
April 1, 2024 at 3:00 pm #245990Me and Whitey Herdog will be tuning in to this one tonight. Curious to see what the lineup is and whether or not there is a change. We have actually not generated much offense this year. Alot of our runs have been scored on odd plays.
Din-din today was a Hungry Mans Turkey and Dressing dinner. Along with a big bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream. Later tonight me and Whitey Herdog will have a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars whilst we tune in for the west coast clash.
I hope I can view this. We are supposed to have storms here in SW Indiana later today and if it rains I lose the signal on my satellite.

April 1, 2024 at 3:07 pm #245991I forgot all about Shildt’s first game against his old team. I wonder if he’ll try a little harder?
April 1, 2024 at 3:45 pm #245992I’m not sure how a manager tries harder.
Remember when Pete Rose managed the Reds? He would send his closer out there in the 9th with a six run lead. But that was when he was betting on his own team!April 1, 2024 at 4:05 pm #245993Haha…Yeah, Pete always tried a little harder. “Charlie Hustle”…or hustler.
April 1, 2024 at 5:06 pm #245994LF B. Donovan L
1B P. Goldschmidt R
2B Nolan Gorman L
3B N. Arenado R
C W. Contreras R
DH M. Carpenter L
RF J. Walker R
CF Victor Scott L
SS Masyn Winn RApril 1, 2024 at 5:58 pm #245995What on earth else would it take if 9 K’s in 17 AB’s isn’t an indication that maybe someone else should slot at #3 in the order?
April 1, 2024 at 6:17 pm #245996Yeah – again I would go:
Donovan
Scott
Goldschmidt
Arenado
Gorman
Contreras
Carpenter
Walker
WinnHit ‘em with two speedy lefties at the top, followed by boppers. I wonder if Victor’s parents made the trek down to San Diego? I enjoyed their interviews during the games. Both ran track in college, and now are seeing their son realize a dream. Really cool!
April 1, 2024 at 6:28 pm #245998Was 1975 the last time a pitcher named Gibson threw a pitch for the Cardinals? I’ll bet Pete LaCock knows the answer…
April 1, 2024 at 6:31 pm #245999TD it is not a results driven decision making process. His anointed role is middle of the order impact bat. Probably because he can post impressive exit velocities when he connects. It does not have to be associated with any particular results other than a homer a week, more or less. Nothing much has to happen in between. Similar to Paulie D. for a couple years.

ParticipantZTR had the best take on Gorman. Spot on analyzation that is.
April 1, 2024 at 7:45 pm #246003I think Gorman will be a good player and will make some all-star teams during his career, but he is probably a year or so away from the maturity level to be justified hitting in the three slot.
But then our manager is probably a couple of years away from the maturity level needed to fill out a lineup and make pitching changes.
April 1, 2024 at 7:45 pm #246004Along with the 3 slot cleanup’s also been invisible, but it’s still early so I’ll guess Arenado will eventually collect more than 1 hit to hoist that .063 avg.
April 1, 2024 at 8:00 pm #246005I also think Gorman will eventually offer up consistent offensive production, Bikemike, but not even the great Albert Pujols was subjected to the pressure to produce that’s associated with being the everyday #3 slot hitter until his 3rd full season in the Big Leagues. I’m not sure Gorman will ever belong at #3. In my view, he profiles best at #5 on this roster
April 1, 2024 at 8:01 pm #246006Carpenter can grab Crawford and they can go for coffee. I’d have Burleson DHing.
April 1, 2024 at 8:03 pm #246007Maybe he will TD, but I’m more interested in what he will do in the next few hours.
April 1, 2024 at 8:44 pm #246008The day will soon be upon us where we’ll laugh at Scott and Winn batting 8th and 9th. Winn is not the near automatic out that he was a year ago. Mark my words, he’ll hit over .300 in multiple seasons before he hangs them up. And Scott is just flat out impressive.
What was for din-din one may ask? It was a trip over to Johnny’s Steakhouse for a medium rare ribeye, buttered mushrooms, mashed potatoes and absolutely nothing for dessert…….gotta watch the ole’ waistline these days.
And we know BOCfan is a tremendous Cardinal fan, but you just can’t root against our boys in this series. It’s not the players fault that Shildt got shidt on by Cardinal management. Our boys can win this series. I’ll be disappointed if we only win one game vs the Pads here. We need to sweep them, but it won’t cost me any sleep if we just come away with 2 wins.
April 1, 2024 at 8:54 pm #246010There’s a run. That should be enough for Gibson.
