Going to be hard to draft a high school kid that’s ready for Peoria. There’s still GCL but safer bet to go polished college guy.
All organizations will probably be doing this. Still don’t see how they can get by without at least one club to Bridge the gap between GCL and Peoria.
Oh I wouldn’t be surprised if they added the second one next year. You look at all those that need to come to U.S. from DSL plus the new draftees plus all the Johnson City club.
I question whether there are many high school draftees ready for full season class A right away or in most cases even the next spring. With the elimination of short season leagues it will be a problem. Most kids will need to be developed by colleges.
It’s well worth the small price of subscription for additional information. I will say Brian and I agree on things most of the time. Support the site!
The Cardinals released 10 minor leagu players: pitchers Akeem Bostick, Martin Córdoba, Blake Drake, Mitchell Osnowitz, and Zach Prendergast and position players Chris Chinea, Yariel Gonzalez, Shane Benes, Stanley Espinal, and Andrew Warner.
Reyes was topping out at 91 mph today, a far cry from 98 a couple years ago. I was impressed with Oviedo yesterday and believe he is a top prospect.

Paniagua pitched an excellent game for 5 innings for GCL Cardinals before the poor defense did him in the 6th inning. Burgos misplayed 2 fly balls that should have been caught.
Diowil Burgos is in the lineup for GCL Cardinals and playing LF. Also over from DSL are pitchers Saniel Santana and Luis Tena.
Look for news regarding 2nd round draft pick Trejyn Fletcher. I’m at Jupiter to watch the Jupiter rookie club and of course the PB Cardinals. From a pretty good source I learned Sunday will be his last game here as he will be going to Johnson City.
