I agree on Justo. There was some buzz about him last year.

Why on God’s green earth is Williams Jimenez, who is now 23, back on the Gulf Coast Cardinal roster after hitting well over .300 last year? There’s nothing for him to prove at that level. He should be at State College or if not consider Ed a prospect be released. LaRoque sure doing strange things this year.

LaRoque has people poorly placed throughout the system.

Player placement is puzzling. When Vuch was Farm director they made sense.

Regarding roster placements I have to wonder if LaRoque has lost his mind.🤣

No way that Cedeno and Machado play at GCL Cardinals. My guess is Palm Beach since they stayed in Florida.

Donivan Williams is on the State College Spikes I was told by his mother.

As I usually am, I am underwhelmed with the draft results except for about a half dozen pitchers and Fletcher. I just think they could do better.

Don’t know if you noticed but Gorman’s average has dipped to about .259.

Just think better to release players like Billings and Drake in spring training. There are more in EST that will probably be released just prior to the draft.

Seems pretty unfair to release Billings when he is performing so well though I realize he has little chance to reach the majors. Same could be said for Blake Drake and John Nogowski. BTW Billings is a RH hitter and throws left.

In all fairness, it’s hard to stay sharp with such little playing time. If I were Schildt? I would have rested just a couple of regulars at a time.

I have seen Oviedo pitch and he is impressive. He’s a big framed hard throwing youngster. Looks like a major league pitcher. If he keeps working on command look out!!

Oviedo, Rondon, Escobar, Seijas pretty promising. Have to see Roberts and Gingery perform before generating any excitement there.

That’s a good point Derek. Only thing is Goldschmidt stands in the way but you never know what future holds.

Brian: Think you missed my point. Mendoza is going to play. Of course Montero is going to play but so is Mendoza probably quite a bit of 1B. Only other guy there is Chinea—-not a priority prospect.

Brian: you seemed to indicate that Mendoza would have to fight for playing time at Springfield. I think between playing 1B, 3B and DH he’ll be in there every day. I’m remembering what John Vuch said to Ben Senturia, a backfield friend. Ben listed Gorman, Montero, Nunez as top prospects for 3B. John said “Don’t forget Evan Mendoza.

To illustrate the difficulty in predicting the minor league rosters consider the following: the wife of Andrew Warner was elated with 3 days remaining that her husband had been told he was going to Peoria, Justin Toerner was still playing up a level at Springfield, Brandon Riley was playing up a level at Palm Beach, Espinal was told be at PB. Just a few examples. There are more.

My source said Wilson told her he will be at PB and as U said Ortega pulled a hamstring so he is out for a number of weeks.

Ravelo was batting every inning and homered once. Hitting well and appeared ready to go.

There is some difficulty in predicting the minor league rosters because of the players taken to Memphis some of which are certain to be reassigned. Also pitchers in particular did not as a rule sit in their team’s dugout but behind the plate of the various fields or throwing in the bullpen. As of the last day of camp regarding position players Kirtley, Riley, and Espinal were with PB. Cedeno, Warner, Figuera were with Peoria and Billings was still with Springfield. Godoy was main catcher (and hitting well) at Springfield. Alexis Wilson was a 3rd catcher at PB but doubtful he broke camp with them. Appeared Torres was going to stay at EST. Some questions arise because a few players were filling in I expect for those coming from St. L and Memphis.

Schrock’s apparent inability to play short puts him behind the other 3 and he has less power than Sosa and Urias imo.

Ivan Herrera said he will be at Peoria and so did Zack Jackson so there you go. Julio Rodriguez said he and Ortega will pair up again this year at PB.

Harder to track pitchers but as of today Palm Beach position players are Ortega, J Rodriguez, Baker, Yepez, Dunn, Kirtley,, Ascanio, Jose Martinez, Plummer, Benson, Denton, Woodall, Riley.
