All I can say is the club went on long winning streak when Sosa was in the shortstop position. He was a spark with his superb and enthusiastic play.
Point on Plummer is he is eligible for FREE AGENCY. Wouldn’t be ours to trade unless either protected on 40 man or re-signed to minors contract.
Plummer has to be protected or he will be a free agent (drafted and signed in 2015). In addition to him I think Pacheco, Donovan, Baker, and Perez are good possibilities to be protected.
This is the best chance to upgrade at shortstop with Story, Baez, Correa, Seager available and big salary players coming off the books.
Yepez needs added for 2 reasons because he would become a minor league free agent and would be Rule 5 eligible.

Wouldn’t they have smarter to go with kids with upside in the rotation? At least that’s a step toward better teams in the future. Lester and Happ will be long gone after the season. Such a patchwork pitching staff! Ouch!
The hit off Loutos was of the scratch variety—a bouncing ball that the third baseman should have fielded. I was at the game and impressed by strike throwing Graceffo and Loutos.
Been interesting watching the Complex Cardinals. Will be good to catch Julio Rodriguez rehab and hoping Joshua Baez soon plays.
It’s ok with me if they want to totally waste a draft pick on what amounts to a bullpen catcher and no harm in signing Strauss as NDFA.Clearly picking a non hitting catcher who also doesn’t appear strong defensively makes little sense. Possibly they plan to release a couple current bullpen catchers.
Brian, with 7 catchers already at Complex team and 3 with each of the full season clubs I think the issue is why waste a pick on this catcher? Think they could have used still another pitcher so tend to disagree with your comment. Each pick is significant. Agree to disagree.
People forget about the 40 man roster limit so It’s not that easy to get Jose Robson playing time or Heineman. As for Antonini I see him going to PB as the frontline catcher as there are only 2 catchers there and Sanchez will rejoin Memphis when Molina is activated. In saying that I do think Antonini is more highly regarded than Most think.
What has Hurst shown in his minor league career to warrant being added to 40 man? Not impressed except for a few of his AB’s this spring. Thomas has at least shown some power off bench in 2019 before injury. Needs to play.
