Some of us are surprised Carlson wasn’t playing first base with the abundance of outfielders and he played it some in high school. There are better CF’ers in the pipeline and he’s been used in corner recently.

Would someone please tell Dan McLaughlin to pronounce Memphis correctly. It is NOT pronounced MEMPUS but Memfis.

Unfortunately Ravelo will be a free agent.

Knizner will not be a factor in St. Louis until Molina retires end of 2020 if then and Montero appears to have more upside.

40 man roster space is so crowded and room has to be made for Genesis Cabrera, Ryan Helsley and Lane Thomas for sure. Really wish there was room for Tovar and Ravelo who are very good players and still relatively young. Tovar was said to be best defensive infielder in the organization. Unfortunately both will be free agents this fall in addition to Alex Mejia and Jose Godoy.

I was in attendance at Peoria game. Beautiful evening at Dozer Park. Dahlberg is a sleeper prospect for a LH relief role if nothing else. Keeps hitters off balance by changing speeds with 74 to 89 mph and had superior control working both sides of the plate. Ortega impressive catcher. Dunn, Kirtley and Baker hitting well.

Realize Carioca that you probably haven’t seen Oviedo pitch. If you had you would see the upside. Lots of young pitchers have control issues at times even those at major league level.

Watched the Chief’s win Wednesday night in Peoria. Oviedo is big strong righthander to keep an eye on. Definitely will be on my prospect list.

Also newly acquired was Jhon Torres who could be a factor.

Adolis Garcia, Randy Arozarena and Lane Thomas plus Conner Capel and a kid from DSL hit like .375 Joerlin De Los Santos. Plenty there to watch in addition to Pinder and Machado.

You’ll find that Figuera is really a middle infielder pushed to 3b because of Perez at ss and Dunn at 2b.

Time to think about Stanley Espinal who is hitting .301 in tough hitters league and is still young.

FWIW Tovar, Mejia, and I think Urias will be free agents and no room on 40 man. Sosa could be in jeopardy regarding 40 man once Leone and Wainwright are back and off 60 day DL

Too bad there’s not room for Ravelo described by Clapp as a real good “professional hitter” and named best defensive first baseman by Baseball America. All that and he’s still relatively young. He will be a free agent but hate to lose him.

I have trouble rating Roberts and Ginger as high as some. Gingery hasn’t thrown a pitch and Roberts has been very ineffective.

With so many quality young pitchers already up and then Cabrera, Helsley, perhaps Fernandez and Gonzales I’m not concerned. There’s plenty of drafts to select good college arms that aren’t too far away from the majors.

Time to move Leandro Cedeno there as well. He’s a power hitting prospect but even though he’s only 19, this is his 4th yer in the organization so in one more yr he’ll be Rule 5 eligible.
