I know I’m old fashioned but Scott should have been bunting there imo! He could have beaten it out or at least moved the runner! We already struggle to score with runners in scoring position! Seems like a wasted at bat to me!
Whether it is the FO or Oli you can expect to see more of this until both are gone are until we get a manager who handles the BP in a responsible way! These blown saves happen to everyone but I’m pretty sure the facts will bare out that we are near the bottom in blown saves the last two seasons! Something needs to change but never does!
15 to 20 games better than us? I’d say 30 to 35 is more like it! We look like another 71 win team and 101 should be easy for them! Looks kinda like the A’s playing the Astros! No contest!
Of all out young hitters Burleson is the one most likely to blossom into an MLB hitting star! Not as much power as Gorman but way more contact and average! I just hope he becomes a star for us and not someone else!
Isn’t this what a lot of last place teams do! Hire back an old war horse from the past to sell tickets? It’s a shame we are them but we are! Just goes to show the FO knows this is gonna be a long bad year!

BW has hit the nail on the head! The lack of spending has become a major issue! To survive and compete spending what we do you have to have brilliant FO people and we don’t! We either need new ownership who are willing to spend big bucks or new FO people from TB for instance who know how to make it happen with small payrolls! Since we will get neither we are stuck in last place!
If management finished 4th in division and draws 2.7 I think behind closed doors they will pat themselves on the back for another successful season! So sad!
Bling, I have a hunch, nothing more, Burleson is a big league hitter and is about to bust out! The problem for us imo is he like two or three others is really a DH! This is another roster construction problem out FO has left us with! Burleson will probably get traded and become a star DH for someone! Just a hunch! I mean he was really good in AAA 2 years ago and really made good contact last year!
Carlson is gonna be the new PDJ for the Cards! Keep giving him chances over and over until he proves beyond any doubt he can’t play and now he has no trade value at all! Just like PDJ! If they can get anything for him now, Carlson, they should pull the trigger!

ZTR, depressing is a great word for it! Basically what it is, is we sucked last year and aren’t really much better this year! This team won’t compete again until major changes are made from the very top IMO! Been awhile since I’ve gone into a season knowing we have no shot, but here it comes!
Totally agree with Keep Coming Back! What we have done so far imo is add Gray! I love Gray and think he will help, BUT his addition will not make us a contender, even in our weak division!
82 Willie, your earlier post is spot on! What we basically have done is add Gray! If you look at last years starting 5 and include Montgomery you can probably even make the case that this starting 5 is worse! Gray at his best will add maybe 5 wins and that is nowhere near a division, much less a WS contender!
He wasn’t even number one for the twins! Lopez was! He is a great pitcher and a huge improvement over what we had last year, but for a contender or division winner he is not! Also he has never been the number one guy on any team he has ever pitched for! In Cincy he was number three or so, for twins number 2, which is what he should be for us!
Imo this team as currently constructed is not a contender, even in our weak division! As I see it, our rotation is
1)Don’t have one
2)Sonny Gray
3)Don’t have one
4)Mikolas
5)GibsonI’m not putting Lynn in there! He is below a 5 imo! You can’t compete for division titles with a pitching staff this short of arms! As bling said our hitting is likely to be middle of the pack! Now if we trade for a Cease or Glasnow or sign a Yamamoto things will be different! What we hope they do is one thing, what they have done is only enough to get out of the cellar and that’s gonna be close!

As I said in a post a couple of months ago Mo will sign 2 or 3 bottom of the rotation guys and that will be it! Here is number 2! One more to go and we STILL don’t have a number 1 or 2! The only good thing about this is we will be a bottom feeder again and surely Dewitt will toss Mo and Ollie to the curb!
