The business bottom line is simple. If you are going to start 3 starters, carry 3 maybe 4. As much as I hate to admit it, if Waino isn’t going to start why would he be on the roster. Taxi sqaud..?
Woodford has been one of the most solid pitchers, regardless of the situation: starting, holding score close for a comeback, getting dbl plays, mop up..whatever he has been asked to do he has done very well!
As far as the k’s..? if you can get 3 outs with ground balls on 3-6 pitches, vs. 3 outs with k’s, but needing 12-15 pitches..seems like a no brainer to me. Woodford rarely gives up solid hits, and the hits he does give up are usually weak contact type..like last night, the ball hit to DeJong at 2nd, he fields the ball rushes the throw not even close to first.. Ruled a HIT..?? Edman/Wong make that play in their sleep, DeJong simply playing the wrong position last night.
Whatever they do with the roster I suppose someone will be upset.

Would be good for Libby to start and get maybe 5 inngs out of him. Then divide the 4 innings with Woody, Matz and whoever… The move would be to option out Hudson after last night’s efforts, let Libby exhaust his pitches and then return Libby.
This will leave: Q, Miles, Monty, Jack, Waino, Gio, Hels, Andre, Zach, Woody, Matz, Stratton.
leave Hicks, Romero, Hudson on Taxi.

Don’t get me wrong. I would love to see Waino pitch and dominate, but I just don’t think that will happen.
If he does start and continues like his last 5-6 outings, it will be a short appearance.
Hopefully I’m wrong, Waino starts game 1, and dominates for a complete game shutout.!!!

Cabrera, last game 9/27. 1 inng. 6 hits, 5 runs.! ugh!
    Certainly not ready to contribute.

The way Waino has pitched his last 6 or so outings, there is no way he should see the mound in the post-season. I think time has come to end a Great Career. By no means should the FO or OM, start him because of what he has done in the past: to jeopardize this post season opportunity would be a large mistake. If nothing else Waino should step aside to allow the best chance of success one more time for himself, Yadi and Albert.

Game card. right on with the top 3. Could also switch 1 & 2…
What do you all feel about the bullpen make up? I heard Ollie was possibly going to carry all 5 starters in post season.
If you have 3 starters in Q, Miles & Monty, then I would have 9-10 in the pen:
    (can’t have enough pitching)
Hels, Gio, Andre, Zach, Waino, Woody, Hicks, Matz, Dak,
    (Romero, Strat..?)

Albert is just ridiculous! Reminding everyone how good he really is!

Guess they should have left Woody in.

Waino should not see the mound in 1st round.
should be Quintana, Miles & either Jack or Monty.
All should have a really quick hook, as the bullpen has been very, very good.

    Woodford, regression…? he goes 1 2/3, with 1 h, 1bb, and 0 runs! mmmm, doesn’t seem too bad.
4-0. 2.70era, 40 inngs. He has actually been one of the better pen guys this year!

Every single pitcher has a bad outing now and then. This is the first one for Woodford, he just needs to get back out there and throw up some zeros!

    Cards offense is too inconsistent.
Have to be better. Need better starts from the starters, the game is dictated
    by them.

Cards will be fine, as long as they keep playing the way the have been. (which they will).
The Brewcrew is simply not as good as the Cards. You can argue the starters have an advantage, but our bats are much better and I give the Cards the edge in the pen.
We will be fine, the only question is if we can get on another run and maybe catch NYM or ATL..?
    GO CARDS.!!!

Woodford holds them in check and gets zero credit. kinda par for the year.
Maybe its a mop up situation, but you can’t keep Geo out there he got bombed, and Zach didn’t look that sharp either, so enter Woody.
He has proven to be one of the best pitchers on the staff this year and deserves credit. Sure hope he makes the post season roster, he can certainly help.
    Go Cards, Great Win!!!

With how he has been pitching over the last year, no way he shouldn’t be up helping the Cards win.

Brian, I wouldn’t bet on Libby. He has looked terrible. Having a good game and then 2-3 bad ones sandwiched in between will/should not get you to MLB. He is still very inconsistent. I think he can be a MLBer, but still needs plenty of work, he should not be rushed.
Woodford threw 17 pitches yesterday, very effective. He will be in line to start the second game at Wrigley.

Woody only going out to save him for Tuesday dbl header w Cubs. He should start one of the games.!

Hicks should never pitch more than one inning per outing.
Packy serves up a 2 run double
    There goes the lead
    Geez!
