5:35 p.m.
RHP Miles Mikolas (11-10, 3.32) vs. RHP Roansy Contreras (4-4, 3.41)
BSM // KMOX
Also BSSO and BSSW+September 8, 2022 at 6:36 pm #199803We lose on Thursday to the lowly Nats and the Brewers are on the verge of winning a doubleheader against the Giants. They win the first game 2-1. The lead after tonight is either going to be 8 games or 9 games. We better get on the ball this weekend at Three Rivers Stadium or else Milwaukee is soon going to be breathing down our necks!

September 8, 2022 at 6:55 pm #199805Rats…Haha! Gotta keep the fellas up on their toes before this lead evaporates! What’s for din-din?

ParticipantThe brewers haven’t really showed signs of going on a run.
September 8, 2022 at 8:48 pm #199813Milwaukee leads 4-0 in the 7th in the 2nd game. And then they have the Reds over the weekend. Our lead could just about be cut in half by close of business on Sunday.
We are doomed…….
September 8, 2022 at 10:21 pm #199814Have a couple of chili dogs, Rat…….and your usual Friday catfish fiddlers, meatloaf, potatoes au gratin, green beans & gravy, Amish peach cobbler and a heaping helping of chocolate soft serve ice cream…….topped off with a 5×8 Rio Palma Vista cigar, of course.
September 9, 2022 at 7:56 am #199824I prefer a bag of Cheetos and PBR.

stlcard25ParticipantContreras has solid stats…probably the most solid of the guys this weekend. Hopefully the Cards can get the series off to a good start.
September 9, 2022 at 11:10 am #199829For my post check on tomorrow’s game- that’s where I put it. Dang what day is it? Go Cardinals! Let’s rebound!
September 9, 2022 at 11:19 am #199830Dang rats your glass is half empty again!

ParticipantCards will be fine, as long as they keep playing the way the have been. (which they will).
The Brewcrew is simply not as good as the Cards. You can argue the starters have an advantage, but our bats are much better and I give the Cards the edge in the pen.
We will be fine, the only question is if we can get on another run and maybe catch NYM or ATL..?
GO CARDS.!!!September 9, 2022 at 11:29 am #199832Lee is correct.
September 9, 2022 at 11:51 am #199837I’m aware that it was a 7 run deficit, but was anyone else surprised that Marmol PH DeJong and Knizner for Goldy and Nado after the first 2 had reached safely in the home half of the 9th? I mean, why not at least give your two big bats an opportunity to pad their RBI totals? Additionally, if I had been one of the few fans who had remained in my seat, I would have felt more than a bit slighted to not have been able to see the best two hitters on this ballclub take their rips in another PA with 2 on and no outs. I would have felt like the Redbird manager made the decision to pack it in at the expense of the small portion of the paying gate that stuck around for the final inning. It’s not like he’s conserving his BP or anything like that. At any rate, I wasn’t too crazy about the decision.
September 9, 2022 at 12:17 pm #199843I’m looking forward to tonight’s ballgame against a real Big League ballclub… Even though DC managed to split against the Redbirds, I consider that ballclub to be the absolute most mundane and boring team in the NL, if not the entire Big Leagues. I hope they move to a different city in the near future. I’ve never liked watching them since their conception and genuinely wish they were still the Montreal Expos. The Pirates are a genuine NL team and an NLC rival. Additionally, the game will start at 5:35 pm here in StL. so I won’t have to take an afternoon nap to stay awake for tonight’s game. Okay…End of rant.
September 9, 2022 at 2:28 pm #199853Me and Whitey Herdog will be tuned in for this one. Need at least two of these three. There is no doubt Milwaukee will win at least two of three from the Reds and probably sweep. Remember, we have that
eight games in nine days trip coming up to San Diego, Los Angeles, and Milwaukee. That could be a killer for us if we don’t at least have a 7-8 game lead when it starts.Din-din today was something different. I stopped at Taco Bell and got me a couple of crunchy supreme tacos. Along with a Pepsi, and a piece of Cherry Delight to top it all off. No Amish restaurant today.
And the Wildcats of Jasper High School are on the road again tonight. They are back in Evansville to face the Evansville Bosse Bulldogs. That’s pronounced bossy. Jasper should be the favorite in this one.

Why are all the pictures of Honus show him as an old coach?
September 9, 2022 at 4:02 pm #199870Took a quick look at the line-up and I’m happy to see that DeJong will be on the bench so he can PH for Goldy if the situation presents itself…
September 9, 2022 at 4:03 pm #199871He may look old, but I want that guy in the photo on my side…
September 9, 2022 at 4:38 pm #199872Today is Sept. 9th. I don’t consider myself a pessimist, but I’m always aware that crazy things happen in both life and baseball. Consider this…As late as Sept. 17th of 2006, the Redbirds held a comfortable 8.5 game lead over the Houston Astros in the NLC. Both the Astro’s and Lance Berkman’s white hot bat went on a last half month of Sept. tear that resulted in the Cardinals clinging to a 0.5 lead in the division and the winner of the NLC not being decided until the Redbirds had played and won their last game of the 2006 regular season…”Youneverknow”
September 9, 2022 at 5:01 pm #199874For what it’s worth, tonight it was scampi and parmesan with lemon grilled and served with brown rice and a green salad. Would have loved one of pugs Popeye pies, but alas the French never heard of them. Rah Cardinals!
