Bling…Haha! First they get burned by the shift, and now “brick hands” let’s the baseball glance off the 3B bag! Can’t catch a break…I mean, a “brick.”

    GO REDBIRDS!

Well I finally get to tune in and the cards are down 5-1. Hudson must not have been good which he hasnt been lately. Offense is missing but you can’t win em all even against the reds. Nice to see Woodford pitching though.

Well…. Dan and Jim said earlier…. If we get into their Bullpen… we can make a come back.

“Jeopardy Theme Song has been playing a couple of innings now” 🙁 🙁 🙁

This is a good night for the Pirates to step up to the plate also.
    1-0 Pirate Bottom 3rd.

Woodford gives the Cardinals a chance, but after the Edman HR, no life no where in the Redbird bats tonight. That’s too bad.

Well the bats didn’t happen. But on the good side, Woodford pitched great. Hopefully we come back tomorrow and take the series.

I see Woodford appeared in 26 games last season with 8 of those appearances being as the starting pitcher. His total workload in ’21 consisted of 67.2 IP. Anyone recall or have any idea of how many innings of work he accumulated in his 8 starts?

2-1 Milwaukee in the top of the 6th. Our old friend Kolten Wong with a two run dinger in the 4th for the Brewers.

And Front Row Amy is in attendance tonight!

I don’t really have an issue with the IF shift if Dave Kingman or Adam Dunn is stepping in, but I think it’s sometimes way over used in today’s game. I can’t count how many times the Cardinals have been burned by it this season. I saw them deploy it with Blackmon in the batter’s box…Blackmon! He sprays the baseball all over creation. Naturally, they got burned.

Pirates lead 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th. C’mon Pirates, hang on to this one tonight!

Remember, every day that goes by where the Brewers don’t gain any ground is a good thing!

UPDATE: At the end of eight innings, still 3-2 Pittsburgh. Just three more outs guys!

That was a really nice DP turned by the Pirates.

Hudson has had a disappointing season for sure. He’s just not back from the injury / surgery yet.

Hudson with a clunker, GmSc of 27.

Woodford followed with major league pitching, but the damage was already done.

It’s similar to Hudson having a scholarship and Woodford as a walk on.

Hudson and Woodford are pretty much the same pitcher. You may as well roll with the one who’s getting better results right now. Maybe Hudson will improve in the bullpen.

But, but that Woodford just doesn’t get enough dang strikeouts.

They may be the same pitcher but Woodford whip is better than Hudson. For contact pitchers that’s an important stat.

1TD, in 2021, Woodford had 37.0 IP in 8 starts and 30.2 IP in 18 relief appearances.

Long term I’d still go with Hudson to have the better career. Woodford is performing right now, which is what matters at the moment. I think Flaherty will displace both soon, which is probably going to be best for the team in October.
