This is exactly what Shildt said…Wow! He has to go.! Can’t keep making excuses for these guys; if you can’t throw strikes go to AAA, and let the young players get experience.

Let’s see how Shildt tries to explain his way out of this one. If he says “it just wasn’t our night” or “it just didn’t work out”, he shouldn’t manage another game.100 % need to get the young players up and get them some experience. The playoff run is gone, not attainable. Get Oviedo, Woodford, Liberatore, Rondon up and get them some work in… this is the best way to salvage what is left of 2021. Let these guys get some experience and re-evaluate all players next spring.
Playoffs are no where in sight. Get rid of the old men, and let the kids get some experience… Woodford, Oviedo and Liberatore.
Lester pick up another mess from management. Would like to hope Happ might be better but why would he be..?

It was hit right to him and he just took his time to throw it.. what.??!!bccran. agreed with your Woodford comment and also like the Sosa at 2nd comment…if Sosa keeps hitting like he is, that makes the offense much better…in place of Williams or Thomas.
Agreed on Ponce is a mess, and Woodford should be getting more and more innings..he is still only
24 yrs old, and getting better all the time.
Ponce, needs some time in AAA to try and figure things out…if not, maybe time for a change.I agree, Woodford should have covered first, fell asleep for just a second…although not sure it would have been in time anyway..? Woodford does not look comfortable at the plate…but then again about 90 % of all pitchers don’t either. He actually did a decent job, by allowing only 2 runs with bases loaded and zero outs… easily could have been a few more runs with just another hit or two… which he didn’t allow, Plus came out and had another scoreless inning after..! By far the best pitcher the Cards had that game.!
Woodford needs more innings. He was awesome in spring and just
needs to get some time on the field. Sitting at the Alt camp is a waste.I think Woodford is still getting better every outing… see his last two.!
He may not throw quite as hard as a couple of the other pitchers, but his command
has been dead on this year… only 5 walks..!Please tell me why JR is not in Springfield working on his command?
Someone in the front office must really, really like him to put him on the
opening day roster ahead of Woodford. How do you walk 7 of 8 batters, not finish
an inning and then be rewarded..??
Wow!Cards should have done some deals to get established hitters in the lineup… right now
they have a bunch of unknowns, bad deals and wannabe come backs.
The biggest dollar player needs to play like one at 1st base. Wong and DeJong are solid, and Edman
is coming into his own. If Carp can continue hitting that is a big plus, but that is also a big if.?
The outfield is a “?”. Carlson should be there NOW.!Pretty much the same line up as last year, minus Ozuna… pitching better be
very, very good as this line up will not be scoring many runs!
Could be a long season, or maybe a very short one.Woodford needs to be given a shot. I heard he pitched 2 innings yesterday, allowing only a broken bat single and a bloop hit… nothing squared up and 2 k’s. His stuff is right there with all the others, but is being pushed down because he doesn’t have MLB experience… So tell me how he gets that..?
The way Woodford has been looking all spring and yesterday vs the Red Sox, JD Martinez, Devers and Xander, setting them all down in order.. he is deserving a much better look. With his development the last 2 years and considering his young age of 23, he will need to be getting some MLB time..sooner better than later!
Woodford was dominant vs the heart of the order! Fastball up to 94/95 and his
breaking stuff looked sharp. This kid is ready…
