Yes, the only thing keeping Rose out of the Hall is his personality flaws. The guy thinks the normal behavior “rules” of decency and character do not apply to him. And it has burned him bad.

Not sure if this will be a big deal, but Ollie sort of disrespected Mikolas. Yeah, he was getting hit hard after throwing four scoreless. But you gotta give your top guys a chance to get through a rough spot when you are still up by a fairly comfortable margin.

    Marmol got a little panicky.

    Man, Goldy really off tonight

    Good nite for it tho’

Bike Mike, Rose and Michael Jordan were sick gamblers. Both rich, both greedy as hell. At least Pete finally admitted it. Mike never will.

I understand the concept of trying to get your starting pitcher thru 5 with a lead to get him a possible W, but Mikolas still needed 2 outs to survive an inning in which he’d already been touched up for 3 HR’s that transformed an 8-0 game into a contest that was now in reach for the Reds with a runner aboard and still only one out in the inning. He’d been handed a jellyroll in the form of an 8 run lead and he refused to eat it. I just thought it was time for him to give it to someone else.

Well 1TD we are in a stretch run for the Division Title. What goes on is gonna be whats best to win. Many teams absolutely envy us to be in this position. There’s a little more to it than getting a guy a “W”. I bet he’s got a bunch if “W”‘s hanging on his wall already! No rain-No rain!

Anyone know who’s pitching after second rain delay?

Cobb made millions of dollars. Not from his baseball salary, but from his business/financial acumen. He made savvy stock investments, mostly Coca Cola and GM.

Some people think the stock market is like gambling, so maybe that’s just another area that Rose tried to emulate Cobb.

Rose may someday be posthumously inducted into the HOF, but I’m not sure I’m okay with that. He was banned for wagering on Big League baseball games. While he was still playing for and managing a Big League team. He’s acknowledged as much. Here’s how I see it…When the legitimacy of the outcome of a Big League baseball game is called into question, the least bit of uncertainty about the outcome relegates Big League baseball to something that is no better than All Star-Smack Down, Professional Wrestling.

Speaking of Charlie Hustle, anybody remember that Rose would sprint to first base after getting a walk? Today we have guys lollygagging on live ground balls. Maybe there’s a middle ground that’s the right approach.

Rose has his faults, and I really “hated” (as far as fans can really “hate” a player) him and the Reds when I was a teenager, but as I got older I grew to appreciate his passion for playing the game 100%.

EuroDandy…Yep, sure do. The opposing teams didn’t like it either. I’ve also read accounts that indicated that when he was a rookie his own teammates didn’t like it. The nickname “Charlie Hustle” was initially placed on him as a term that was meant to be a disparaging one.

It’s really pretty simple. If don’t want to be cheated, don’t hit the baseball to Nolan Arenado.

Those few remaining fans are diehard fans……or a little tipsy. It sure would be a great time to snag a foul ball……if that’s your thing. It sure would be my thing since I’ve never caught one.

I’ve never snagged a ball either, and I’ve been to a lot of games. My son has snagged two sitting right beside me, one at Fenway and one in the new Busch. It’s hard to compete with younger reflexes.

Thompson up, Cabrera down. A good move. Cabrera has been off for a while. Thompson has done well in relief opportunities.

Yeah Willy we used to do that after most everybody left after a rain delay. Rain delay was a good time to BS with all the other beer drinkers under the upper deck roof. Everybody would crowd together up there. Ushers didn’t care after and we’d go sit behind home plate. Get really good view of every pitch and the banter. Best seats in the house!

Pugs… I’d really never seen enough of Nootz before this season to say I’m surprised at his performance this year and relief pitchers never really surprise me either way because practical experience has taught me that BP’s are always a question mark for any team unless you have Mariano out there getting loose. I’d have to say Albert. I was happy to see him return, but I sure didn’t think he’d have an outside chance at 700. Never thought he’d get enough PA’s and never thought he’d see much, if any, RHP’ing.

I’ve never been at a big league game with a rain delay. Of course, I don’t think there were a lot of fans at this game before the rain delay.

Had a foul ball under my seat once Euro and didn’t know it. Had some nut fall on my back pouncing on it from behind. Like wild savages!
