stlcard25ParticipantWoodruff has only one out that hasn’t come via strikeout.
September 28, 2022 at 7:36 pm #202747Bling…Yeah, Knizner runs pretty well. Your comment made me think of Tim McCarver, who holds the all time record for triples in a season by a catcher with 13 in ’66. A year that he lead the NL in triples. He also had three triples in WS play. One in the ’64 WS and two in the ’68 WS.

jj-cf-stlParticipantCarlson taking strike 3 suggests be guessed wrong. Guessing is a poor approach with 2 strikes.
September 28, 2022 at 7:44 pm #202750stlcard25…I’ll be darned. 8 K’s in 3 IP. Thinks he’s Roger.

jj-cf-stlParticipantHorton reports Johanna Oviedo will start for PIT Friday.
September 28, 2022 at 8:39 pm #202752Judge gets number 61!
September 28, 2022 at 8:44 pm #202754Re trivia :
#2 is Garry Templeton re not starting the 1979 All-Star game
September 28, 2022 at 8:49 pm #202755UConn got #2.
My guesses for the others:
#1. George Hendrick on not talking to reporters.
#3. Mike Shannon but not sure who he might be talking about unless it was Ray King.September 28, 2022 at 8:49 pm #202756UCONNCard…WINNER! Happy to see someone participating tonight. I suspect it’s a little slow as a result of late night revelry after the clincher…Haha!
September 28, 2022 at 8:50 pm #202757I just logged on for the night.
September 28, 2022 at 8:52 pm #202758Garry Templeton – “If I aint startin’ I aint departin”
Sounds like something Pugs would say.
September 28, 2022 at 8:54 pm #202759forsch31…No, it’s not Silent George. The correct answer is a guy who actually talked quite a bit and it could be said that his words often got him into some trouble. Shannon is also wrong, but you’re on the right track with Ray King as the guy that uttered the line was referring to a pitcher of a similar build as Ray. Nice guesses though!
September 28, 2022 at 8:56 pm #202760Judge with his 61st HR tonight. I wish it would have been last night. He hit it in the Yankees’ 155th game of the season. If he did it in 154, there could always an argument that he was the all-time single season HR champ.
September 28, 2022 at 8:58 pm #202764Rats…That’s correct, but UConnCard beat you to the bag…Haha! Hey, speaking of Pugs, I haven’t seen him around. He must be busy lining up post-season seats…
September 28, 2022 at 8:59 pm #202765Knizner bounces another home run off the top of the wall for the Cardinals first run. I would like to see more of DeLuzio. I wonder if he could be a regular starter in CF.
September 28, 2022 at 9:01 pm #202766forsch31…I had not thought of that, in reference to Judge. I saw him in the first game of the Redbirds/Yankees series this season. We were seated real close and when he stepped into the box, it looked like a grown man on the field with a collection of little leaguers…Haha!
September 28, 2022 at 9:27 pm #202767#3 – Whitey Herzog about Lee Smith
September 28, 2022 at 9:33 pm #202769If Paul Dejong bats in the playoffs we have totally lost our minds! I have never seen a worse major league hitter!
September 28, 2022 at 9:42 pm #202770The answer to baseball trivia question #3 is former Redbird manager Whitey Herzog in an ’82 WS game 4 post-game press conference in reference to an E-1 charged to somewhat corpulent pitcher Dave LaPoint. LaPoint and the Cardinals held a comfortable 5-1 lead in the 7th inning of that game when LaPoint while covering the 1B bag dropped a picture perfect underhand toss from Keith Hernandez on a routine GB to the right side. That error opened the floodgates and allowed the Brewers to come back and win that WS game by a final score of 7-5 and tie the ’82 WS at 2 games apiece.
The correct answer to question #1 is my namesake Joaquin “Walking Underwear” Andujar who, at times to his detriment, was never at a loss for words…
September 28, 2022 at 9:51 pm #202772Steve60…So, you don’t think Paulie and Uecker will ever be a part of a converstion concerning Murderer’s Row? HaHa!
September 28, 2022 at 9:53 pm #202773forsch31…You got the correct guy, but the wrong reference. That’s okay, though. You guessed a WINNER! HaHa!
September 28, 2022 at 10:00 pm #2027761tough, I never saw Ueker bat but there is no way he could be worse! Have you ever been to a little league game and watch the kids at the end of the line up? They just swing at the first 3 pitches and go sit down! That is Paul Dejong! He couldn’t hit if they let him use a tee! We have totally destroyed him forever! Don’t see how he makes a playoff roster but if he does and then actually bats I think it may push me over the edge! Lol!
September 28, 2022 at 10:00 pm #202777Lee
ParticipantGuess they should have left Woody in.
Duh.!!!September 28, 2022 at 10:05 pm #202778LaPoint was my next guess for the pitcher but didn’t know the situation Whitey would have used the phrase.
September 28, 2022 at 10:06 pm #202779Steve60…Yeah, no question he’s pretty bad and looks like he has no chance in the box. I feel sorry for him. And I’m with you insofar as I can’t see how you can include him on the post-season roster, but they’re going to need an extra middle IF’er who can play the SS position. You’d almost think they’d find someone in one of the affiliates.
