Nice work by Hicks to hold a lead.

Even though the thing looked like it might scatter, nice work by Quint. No hitter thru a full 5 until serious trouble emerged out of nowhere.

Not sure if Edman has ever seen a pitch he didn’t want to swing at. He cost us dearly in that inning.

stlcard25…I’d say so, but I was more disapponted with his AB in the 1st inning. Oh well, he’s got one of the 3 RBI tonight.

Hicks should never pitch more than one inning per outing.
Packy serves up a 2 run double
    There goes the lead
    Geez!

I’m not sure I need to see too much more of Packy.

Man I love blackmon. He’s exactly what I believe a ballplayer should be. He’s not athletically gifted but he uses everything he has. Personally I would take almost a whole team of blackmon style players for the Cardinals.

Well a little disappointing. I think I’ve seen enough of Hicks going more than one inning. But I feel we got this. Brewers winning so would be good to maintain here if that holds.

Carlson should be able to hit this guy. Seems like a good match.

Probably a good idea to take yadi out here. Need faster wheels

Well taking yadi out turns out to be smart move. Goldy just hit that one too high. Yadi wasn’t scoring on it.

That’s best inning of work I’ve seen from Gio in a while. Hopefully he can feature a few more like that.

Marmol needs tô realize that there was a reason that Q was only averaging 5 innings a start

I don’t guess the sac-bunt is used anymore in Big League baseball.

Well a bizarre ending. Now you know why the brewers let him go. Just be ause you can throw hard doesn’t mean that much if you can’t find the plate.

I once saw Kingman hit a HR while he was a Met that was somewhat similar the one Goldy featured tonight with the exception of when Kingman first made contact, the baseball looked as though it would be a routine pop-up fly ball to mid-CF that the CF’er would have no problem squeezing for the out. By the time the baseball came down from the stratosphere it landed barely over the wall just to the right of the LCF bleachers of Busch Memorial Stadium. There was little to no wind that day.

I love my Cardinals, and I think they probably would have won by a walk. That said, I hate what a HBP has become. Tyler is wearing a elbow protector and raised his arm TO GET HIT. Used to be a batter had to make an attempt to avoid a pitch.

Does a batter have to avoid being hit by a pitch?
“(1) A batter must attempt to avoid being hit by the pitch. If he does not attempt to avoid being hit by the pitch then: a) If the ball is outside the strike zone when it touches the batter, the ball is dead, it shall be called a ball and the batter is not awarded first base.

I know, I am the old man shouting at the cloud, but what is the point of a rule if the umpires don’t enforce it? I miss the old days. (Play wise, not anything else.)
