ParticipantSorry, just saw 1-3 was closed…just getting caught up.
4)Woodford
5)Arrozarena

Participant1)Helsley
2)Carlson
3)Woodford
I know 3 may see a bit high for Woodford, but he made great strides this past
year, and if he repeats this, he will be competing for a spot on the 25 man.Lee
ParticipantBig mistake not calling up Woodford.
His performance in the PCL this year earned it.!
But calling up a 4th catcher and Mayers, who was DFA’d back
on Aug. 4th, and nobody picked him up; just bad moves period.Lee
ParticipantBig mistake calling up Mayers instead of Woodford…
If you have to protect Woodford in Nov. anyway, why not give
him a shot? With his top 5 in most categories in the PCL this year,
and top vote getter for All Star game, he has earned it!Mayers MLB line…
ERA 7.56
IP 16
SO 14
WHIP 1.92
Notes: DFA’d on Aug. 4th
cleared, returned to Memphis…
About to turn 29.Lee
ParticipantForget about Reyes.
The Cards have several other pitchers coming up through the system
that can have a positive impact with the team. Sure, Reyes has/had an
electric arm, but injury again and again signal long term problems.
Lets get some youth injected into the pitching.
I liked the Junior promotion, but don’t stop at that: Get Woodford up
for an opportunity, he’s earned it. Hopefully Gomber will be ready soon,
and Ponce would be good out of the pen.Lee
ParticipantI think the entire Cardinal nation is tired of the Reyes talk.
How’s he doing, is he throwing yet, is he healthy, when will he be back…
Ugh, we need to just leave the situation alone for a year and move on
to the guys who are playing everyday, and getting better.
If he comes back, great, if not that’s ok too.Lee
ParticipantStubby as manager should happen.
The cards need change, not total rebuild.
Out with the old, in with the new.Give guys like Edman, Sosa, Woodford, Gomber, Arozarena a shot at playing… can’t be any
worse than whats going on now.
The team needs more consistency, and less drama.!Lee
Participantin addition, Woodford has given up less hits, has a better avg against and lower WHIP.!
Lee
ParticipantAgreed. Woodford and Oviedo are doing great. also mentioned was more BB’s by Woodford, needs to be reduced, but really isn’t much of a difference. Plus Woodford is pitching at a much higher level, basically ready for MLB. Woodford certainly gets the nod here!
Lee
ParticipantWoodford has looked pretty good in spring. FB sitting 96, with a good slider & change. Seems ready for Memphis, with MLB not far away.
I guess the big question is who will be the starters when the season begins in Memphis…
Hudson, Gomber, Ponce, Woodford, Helsley, Cabrera…? maybe one goes to the pen. or Dakota may make a roster spot out of spring…CMart on DL..?Lee
ParticipantDakota Hudson #1
Lee
ParticipantFor Memphis, the key will be the pitching. If the starters can give the team quality
starts then this team still has the fire power to pull ahead and win games.Lee
ParticipantJake Woodford had a spectacular outing yesterday! Zero earned runs through 6 inngs. 1bb 5k’s.
Couldn’t get ANY run support!Lee
ParticipantWoodford is primed for a breakout year. Has been very solid to this point.
Lee
ParticipantPretty sure Woodford is invited, again this year…another solid year last year!
