63 games left 13 against the Crew. These next 7 games will decide if we sell or buy.

We need to be getting concerned about Yadi going forward. We have all seen the issues behind the plate. Now we have him bow out when we needed him to pinch hit due to nick tightness experienced while warming up in the cage for a possible call to pinch hit. What?

Yadi looks a little wore down to me. Arenado sprang back pretty good after a night off. Kninzer did pretty good last night. Can’t depend on the rest of the team to bail out the bull pen every time. I’m with Mike free base runners and wild pitches are killing us. Oh yeah by the way catcher is the most physically degrading position to play.

Well, here we are at .500 in game 99. It’s like a new season. All we have to do is win two out of three of our remaining games and we have a chance. Yeah right! Watch out for those flying pigs.

Ever wonder what happened to “long relief?” Used to be teams had one or two of those. I guess they’ve gone the way of the knuckleball. The reigning philosophy appears to be a new reliever each inning regardless of how he’s pitching. I guess managers now believe if they are not seen to be “managing” they’re not doing their job.

For those of us who live in the present, however, let’s kick a little Cincinnati tushie tonight. Rah Cardinals!

Din-din (another grand-kids request): Meat loaf, baked potatoes and snap beans, with a green salad and some unsweetened iced tea (granddad’s insistence). Fresh fruit for dessert (granny’s contribution). Sunday morning breakfast request – biscuits and gravy (these kids are big on the basics).

O’Neill has now struck out 89 times in 263 atbats. That is right at 1/3 of the time. He’s starting to regress to his norm. DeJong is striking out more lately too. Bases loaded last night and both of these goofballs swung like maniacs instead of just trying to put the ball in play.

The bullpen finds ways to lose games. Walks, errors, HBP, whatever.

Arenado isn’t doing much. Perhaps it was indeed Coors Field that made him good.

And why did Edman bat right-handed last night against the righthander?

So many things about this team that make it difficult to watch night in and night out. Not sure what the answer is.

Some smart manager somewhere should change this trend.

The more relievers that are brought in = a better chance to get one who will have a bad night.

Din-din this way was had at Friday’s restaurant in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin……home of your champion Milwaukee Bucks. Medium rare sirloin, broccoli, mashed potatoes, potato skins and taking a page straight out of Rat’s dietary playbook, water.

    Cards win tonight….. it’s that simple .

Cubs on the verge of losing to Arizona. 7-3 DBacks in the last of the 9th. So we wont lose any ground to the Cubs and might gain a game if they do indeed lose. The WhiteSox need to take care of business tonight in Milwaukee at Miller Park. And we need to take care of business tonight at Riverfront.

Coming to the must win part of the season.. we play the crew 13 more times so we need help from other teams but we still need to take care of business. I think it’s a must we win every series from here on out…

To me that’s better pitching to get out of a bases loaded 1 out jam on the road than mowing down a lineup 1-2-3. Good Job Jake. Let’s reward his effort with some runs in the top half.

Bader and Goldy are carrying this team right now.

And that is just recently.. Carlson seems to be finding a groove now. Nado and O’Neill need to get going to on a consistent basis.
