On Tuesday, the Cards lost 3-2. Flaherty only went three IP, got out of trouble with 0 runs and struck out five. Oviedo was good and bad. 3 Ks, but two doubles. Fernandez had his second rough outing in a row. Walked bases loaded, allowed two runs.
DeJong went 2-for-3 and in his first game back, Miller drove in both runs. Bader and O’Neill each went 0-for-4 including 2 Ks.
Cards are now 9-8-2.
March 10, 2020 at 3:37 pm #124443For the second straight day, Wednesday’s game will be streaming only. At Mets – deGrom vs. Martinez. RHP Ryan Helsley, LHP Brett Cecil, RHP John Brebbia and RHP Kodi Whitley are also listed to pitch.
March 10, 2020 at 4:18 pm #124444I am curious.
Approximately how many atbats do the regulars (Wong, Goldy, DeJong, etc) get in spring training?
And approximately how many innings do pitchers get during spring training? Starters? Relievers?

March 10, 2020 at 4:49 pm #124447Looking at the 2018 and ’19 numbers, roughly 40-50 at-bats on average, and 15-20 innings for starting twirlers, Rat.
March 11, 2020 at 5:24 am #124461Woodford was dominant vs the heart of the order! Fastball up to 94/95 and his
breaking stuff looked sharp. This kid is ready…March 11, 2020 at 8:31 am #124477Wednesday’s lineup.
1. Dexter Fowler (S) RF
2. Matt Carpenter (L) 3B
3. Yadier Molina (R) C
4. Tyler O’Neill (R) DH
5. Austin Dean (R) LF
6. Max Schrock (L) 2B
7. Lane Thomas (R) CF
8. Edmundo Sosa (R) SS
9. John Nogowski (R) 1BMarch 11, 2020 at 8:36 am #124479bccran
ParticipantWonder who’s going to win the Thomas-Dean-Ravelo competition for the #4 and #5 outfield spots.
March 11, 2020 at 8:58 am #124484Have not been a Woodford fan but maybe his stuff can play up in a relief role
March 11, 2020 at 9:09 am #124489I think they like Ravelo over Dean. Besides, after the Cardinals made him decline the offer he had from a Korean team, they kind of owe him a roster spot as long as he has a good spring which he has. I think they will take Thomas over Dean because he can play center field. If Bader can’t hit, or one of the outfielders gets injured, Dean, Williams, and Carlson are a phone call away. I have a felling that all three of them will get some MLB AB’s before this season is over.
March 11, 2020 at 9:24 am #124497Reminder that tomorrow will bring the end of the DH for the spring and the start of the three batter minimum (or end of inning) for pitchers. Also with minor league camp open, more cuts should be coming very soon from the 57 still in camp.
March 11, 2020 at 10:57 am #124500We are two weeks away from Opening Day. Do we have any idea what the “somewhat” regular lineup is going to be for us?

March 11, 2020 at 11:11 am #124501Somebody please correct me if I am wrong but major league minimum salary for Ravelo is probably more than he would make in Korea. IIRC MLB minimums are approaching 600K.
March 11, 2020 at 1:18 pm #124504MLB minimum is $563,500 this season. Ravelo would probably have been paid more than that in Korea, though their max for foreigners was lowered to $1 MM.
March 11, 2020 at 1:23 pm #124506Martinez was off today, charged with six runs in 3 2/3, including one inherited allowed by Brebbia, who was not sharp, either. Matt Carpenter hit a solo HR off deGrom, the only hit the latter allowed in four innings. Mets up 6-1.
March 11, 2020 at 1:27 pm #124507Goldy out with renewed elbow soreness
maybe Dean and Ravelo should be playing more 1b…orm ybae get Carp some run over there
March 11, 2020 at 1:55 pm #124512Against the Marlins on Thursday, Adam Wainwright will start. RHP John Gant, LHP Tyler Webb and LHP Giovanny Gallegos are also listed to pitch.
March 11, 2020 at 1:59 pm #124513Sounds like Cecil just went down to a hamstring injury…tough luck as he was starting to look like he could really offer something positive
March 11, 2020 at 2:54 pm #124523Helsley gave up the seventh Mets run in the seventh.
The Cards got the run back with a solo home run by Thomas before they left the bases loaded in T8th. Mets up 7-2.
March 11, 2020 at 3:24 pm #124525Does not sound promising
Brett Cecil said he heard a pop in his right hamstring. Will undergo testing Thursday. https://t.co/hfpagOxy3q

March 11, 2020 at 4:40 pm #124534Cards owe Ravelo because a Korean team wanted him? I dont think so. We had this discussion last year regarding Martinez.
March 12, 2020 at 7:53 am #124587Thursday’s lineup. Pitchers bat. Three hitter minimum rule begins.
1. Kolten Wong (L) 2B
2. Tommy Edman (S) LF
3. Yadier Molina (R) C
4. Paul DeJong (R) SS
5. Brad Miller (L) 3B
6. Dexter Fowler (S) RF
7. Harrison Bader (R) CF
8. Rangel Ravelo (R) 1B
9. Adam Wainwright (R) PMarch 12, 2020 at 9:04 am #124594Friday’s starter against the Astros at Roger Dean is Austin Gomber (0-0, 2.25). RHP Alex Reyes, RHP John Brebbia, RHP Kodi Whitley and RHP Jake Woodford are also listed for tomorrow.
March 12, 2020 at 9:31 am #124595Betting line on how many K’s Fowler has today is 1.5. I’ll throw a $20 on the over!
March 12, 2020 at 1:21 pm #124620Wainwright needed 27 pitches to get through the first inning and stranded a runner on second. From there, he dominated. Five innings, just two hits, no walks, three Ks, 73 pitches.
Gant to pitch the sixth in a scoreless game.
March 12, 2020 at 1:38 pm #124623Cards take the lead in the 6th. Carlson HBP, Williams RBI double to CF. Edman walk, Ortega 2-run double.
