Think about what it would be like being a starter for this team. Very little run support and guys in the pen that should still be at Memphis.

Whenever one expresses a strong desire to have a particular player removed from a team, it’s just common sense to have a replacement in mind to fill the void. However, we’re facing a most rare situation with our Cardinals in that they have two players that need to be removed yesterday…..and at this point, it matters not as to who the replacements are, because even if we grabbed a couple players from Palm Beach, there’s little chance that they would/could underperform Matt Carpenter and Justin Williams. It’s time, Mo.

    Perhaps Lars Mootyvarsnoot and Rondon.

We score plenty of runs vs bad teams.

I had a bad feeling the Vaughn was going to rip one. Once again, the untimely mistake costs a Cards pitcher.

I had the same sense. Just as I got the thought…. the ball went sailing. It happens way too often. The error, the mound visit, the decision to stick with Kim. This one is on Shildt.

Lynn is the exact type of pitcher we’re looking for.

[Edman in the OF – Carp at 2b]…. or…. [Edman at 2b – Williams in the OF]. Name your poison. Carpenter and Williams look helpless at the plate.

LQQking for help at Memphis? Hurst and Dean both on the IL. No one else on the 40-man.

Kim seemed overly animated and emotional last night. I am not sure why he was so agitated but it wasn’t a good look and it didn’t help his performance. He is usually calm.

14 – Sosa at 2B and Edman in RF when PDJ returns. Top of the lineup guys. Keep Goldy from hitting 2nd. It makes the lineup too heavy.

Agreed on Ponce is a mess, and Woodford should be getting more and more innings..he is still only
24 yrs old, and getting better all the time.
Ponce, needs some time in AAA to try and figure things out…if not, maybe time for a change.

bccran. agreed with your Woodford comment and also like the Sosa at 2nd comment…if Sosa keeps hitting like he is, that makes the offense much better…in place of Williams or Thomas.

Having light hitters at the tail end of the lineup is okay, as long as you’re strong 1 through 6-7. As mentioned, Goldy hitting 2nd and NA hitting third is too top heavy. PDJ and O’’Neill were hopes to protect NA, but they have been too prone to the swing for the fences K. Need some consistencies backing up NA. That’s Carlson and Yadi.

He was just with Memphis and pitched in several games as part of his rehab. If you mean to option him to the minors, that is not possible. He has no options remaining and would likely be claimed by another team off waivers.

Any of our resident second guessers ready to cut bait on Ponce and get nothing in return?

Ponce has talent. Just needs to gain his consistency back.

So what you are saying is that you wanted him to bring in Ponce earlier? 😉

I like the fact that Schildt stuck with KK. Even after the homerun. Schildt needs to have more confidence in his starters that they can get out of situations after the 5th inning. And the way our middle relief is right now… it just makes more sense to let our starters get out of their own jam rather than rely on an inconsistent bullpen to do it. Maybe later in the season but for now… my trust is with the starters over the middle relief

Shildt basically admitted that he left Kim in longer than normal because of Gallegos and Reyes not being available, meaning he wanted to use as few of his bullpen options as possible. This lack of bullpen depth will need to be addressed at some point. I view it as big of a problem as our offense is.

Me. Hopefully someone we play a lot would claim him.
