Bad news: we’re down by 3. Good news.. it’s now the 7th… that’s usually when we actually start to come up with the big hits. I’m hoping. Go Cardinals.May 15, 2021 at 12:08 am #161404PugsleyAddamsParticipantPaid - Annual
Top of 7
Stammen still playing his trade.
Carlson – Hits it high and deep to left- center….Pham and Grisham drift back and it’s Pham laying his leather on the ball just on the edge of the track for the out.
And now we’re getting another pitching change so this will definitely send your’s truly to the clubhouse too. Nighty night gang.May 15, 2021 at 12:08 am #161405
An out to start the 7th. Last 3 innings the lead off runner got aboard which resulted in a total of 1 run. Perhaps some reverse psychology going on here.May 15, 2021 at 12:09 am #161406
Goodnight Pugs. I’m close behind if they don’t do something here.May 15, 2021 at 12:23 am #161407so_cal_cards_fanParticipantFree
Getting late for me David. And This is not a game to enjoy watching with 12 free passes.May 15, 2021 at 12:49 am #161408Euro DandyParticipantFree

Well seems like we just came up short. Bullpen gave up a little but not bad for the situation. Oneil had another blast. Arenado finished great with 3 hits but it would have been nice for him to have had one of those hits early in the game when we had two scoring opportunities. As always Cardinals fight to the end. I just was tired, it was real late, and that game was just ugly and hard to watch, it would have been hard to watch at a normal time slot. Bottom line, it was bad starting pitching, no nice way to say it.May 15, 2021 at 7:29 am #161416
The positive takeaway is Sosa and Moroff got in the game.May 15, 2021 at 8:17 am #161417
Agree on the walks. 12 walks in 8 innings is rough. We need to beat this diluted Padre team that’s without 3 of their main bats.May 15, 2021 at 8:37 am #161418
Still wondering why Moroff wasn’t told to sac bunt with two fast runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs, with the top of the order coming up behind him. Doesn’t make sense.May 15, 2021 at 9:04 am #161420BobParticipantPaid - Annual
I agree, Woodford should have covered first, fell asleep for just a second…although not sure it would have been in time anyway..? Woodford does not look comfortable at the plate…but then again about 90 % of all pitchers don’t either. He actually did a decent job, by allowing only 2 runs with bases loaded and zero outs… easily could have been a few more runs with just another hit or two… which he didn’t allow, Plus came out and had another scoreless inning after..! By far the best pitcher the Cards had that game.!May 15, 2021 at 9:58 am #161421
Maybe they can get Carp on the IL somehow too.May 15, 2021 at 9:58 am #161422
To use a Rodney Dangerfield expression, Woodford don’t get no respect. He had a solid year in 2019 at Memphis over 26 starts. Only gave up 124 hits in 151 and 2/3 innings. In a hitters year in the PCL. Did give up 22 dingers, which was way too many. Cuts down on those, and he’ll be a very effective pitcher for the Cardinals. I can see him competing with Thompson for a rotation slot in the future.May 15, 2021 at 1:45 pm #1614391982 willieParticipantPaid - Annual
Yea moroff can handle the bat so bunting should have been an option and he woodford should probably be given the chance to start instead of oviedo in these games we need another starter. I’m just not in anyway impressed by oviedo.May 15, 2021 at 1:57 pm #161440
Woodford should have probably been given a chance to start over both Ponce and Oviedo.May 15, 2021 at 2:17 pm #161441
I’m just not in anyway impressed by oviedo.
Its not his fault the Cards org thinks AAA is unnecessary. He is doing as well as a guy with 113 innings of AA can be expected to do.
