Verlander, deGrom, Scherzer, no Cardinal can pitch like that. Flaherty is the only one who has the ability. Needs to stay healthy
They need an ace. Flaherty can’t stay healthy but he has what it takes when healthy. He has started 18 games in the last two years. Big red flag.
Matz has been prone to the big inning throughout his career. He has given up more hits than innings pitch which has translated into the big inning. His career era is 4.32 which is the exact same as his FIP. His WHIP is an unimpressive 1.322. He is very average a #4 his best days #5 more likely. He is ok just not quite good enough.

Hudson walks are a concern. He is averaging 3.9 (let’s make 4) per 9 innings. He led the league in 2019 with 86 walks. Too many pitches short outings not good.
I think anything to speed up the game is a welcome improvement. One thing is a longer game because of a lot of scoring and action but those let’s take forever to pitch and throw multiple times to first base….boring. Get the ball throw the ball. Keep the line moving.
The Brewers lose. We should win the division. I don’t think we will get far in the playoffs because of the pitching.
I know this has been asked before but since I am fairly new to the board, anyone has any theories why McFarland is still on the roster? I guess every team needs a mop up guy to take one for the team once in a while but he has been really bad so far.
