You never know Oliver. We may just put it together down the stretch.
But we are living a charmed life in this series. The Yankees have outhit is pretty good but we have put one more run on the board than them.
August 7, 2022 at 5:26 pm #194469Need something from O’fer.
What I’m talking about. Nice.
August 7, 2022 at 5:27 pm #194470It was pitchers like this Effross dude that made me start switch hitting at 16 years old in our local Babe Ruth league. I had always messed around in practice batting left handed, and went for it in a game at 16 and kept it going the rest of the time I played.
But that delivery does not bother Arenado and O’Neill much.
August 7, 2022 at 5:30 pm #194471Nooty fails to get the run in from 3rd with 1 out.
August 7, 2022 at 5:31 pm #194472Bottom of 8. Scott Effross and his 1.07 WHIP are on for New York. And it was great to see the home plate ump doing ok. He’s had a rough day behind the plate, but you can tell with his demeanor and general way of handling matters, that he’s a decent guy.
Goldy grounds out to 2nd base
Arenado whacks a double to left-center field and has he had a day. Let’s get him in where he belongs….touching home plate …… insurance is a must vs these New York heavy hitters.
O’Neill lines a slider into right field for a base hit …. Arenado has to stop at 3rd on the hard hit ball.
Nooty flies out to very short center and no base advancement can be had. It was just a little flair so as it left his bat I initially thought it might fall in for a hit
DeJong …. lambastes a long one to left ….oh my…..oh me oh my……bombs away baby!!! Long gone and the Birds have busted this one wide open to the tune of 12-8!
Yadi flies out to Judge in short right field.
Cards 9
Yanks 8August 7, 2022 at 5:31 pm #194473WTG DeJong!!!
August 7, 2022 at 5:33 pm #194474DeJong not doing too bad since his return. I thought it might take a dozen to win this. 😀
Do we send someone other than Helsley out for the ninth? Likely not, especially with a travel day tomorrow but it is no doubt tempting. But man if you do and things fall apart….
August 7, 2022 at 5:35 pm #194475YOWZA! DeJong 3 run dinger. Slider center-center a sliding meatball!
August 7, 2022 at 5:41 pm #194477Top of 9. Helsley still on the mound for the Cards.
Gonzalez flies out to O’Neill over near the line in left.
Lemahieu gets his teeth into one to deep left field….and this one is exiting the yard….12-9 Cards now.
Judge strikes out swinging on a blazing 102 mph heater.
Carp grounds it wide of 1st where Goldy gloves it and he’ll put the finishing touches on this beautiful sweep but flipping it on over to Helsley at 1st base for the out.
Your Utterly Fantastic Final Score:
St. Louis Cardinals 12
New York Yankees 9August 7, 2022 at 5:42 pm #194478Damn that was a heck of a good game. Rah Cardinals! And Rah again!
August 7, 2022 at 5:43 pm #194479The 21 game winning streak is 1/3 of the way in the books.
August 7, 2022 at 5:44 pm #194480Have the Yankees been swept this season before now?
August 7, 2022 at 5:45 pm #194481
stlcard25ParticipantWhat a series for the Cards! Hopefully they can keep your momentum going, as the schedule is pretty simple going forward.
August 7, 2022 at 5:57 pm #194482Have the Yankees been swept this season before now?
Yes, but just a two game series at Mets July 26 and 27.

ParticipantGreat series win. Of course if we lay an egg against Colorado this will be all for nought
August 7, 2022 at 6:16 pm #194485Thanks, bling!
August 7, 2022 at 6:21 pm #194487Why would anyone be negative after sweeping the Yankees and winning 7 in a row?
August 7, 2022 at 6:34 pm #1944881982 willie
ParticipantOnes negativety is another’s positivity
August 7, 2022 at 6:36 pm #194489
jj-cf-stlParticipant9 runs allowed.
Thanks lineup.August 7, 2022 at 6:37 pm #1944901982 willie
ParticipantSeeing this series has made me even more perplexed than before on why the Yankees chose to trade for bader. May very well work out big time for us and not so much for them though you never know.
August 7, 2022 at 6:58 pm #194492
jj-cf-stlParticipantThis series reinforces why they traded for Bader, for me.
The NYY have been disappointed with Hicks for a while now, and his play this series isn’t anywhere near Baders level.
They want a change from Hicks so badly that Judge leads their club in CF starts this season. They don’t want that either. Enter Harrison.
August 7, 2022 at 7:03 pm #194494They have enough bats they can shoot for a defense first gold glove in CF. He probably just needs to not be an automatic out, which he isn’t. Once healthy, he will be just what the doctor ordered.
August 7, 2022 at 7:14 pm #194495Pretty certain they haven’t.
August 7, 2022 at 7:15 pm #194496It certainly is…GO REDBIRDS!
August 7, 2022 at 7:18 pm #194497Nice, nice sweep! Now keep it going against those mile highers.
