But that makes too much sense Lee, you know they love their veterans
Maybe but career wise that’s not how it has been so far. Matz gives up the big inning more often than not.
Pitching is by far the biggest need.
I don’t see how Matz is better than Quintana. The only upside yes Matz is younger but career so far it is not even close Quintana has been better.

That’s a lot to give up. Plus it is not addressing the biggest are of need.
They need pitching more than anything else.
We got Quintana

The starting pitching needs help a lot of help other than Mikolas and he is not an ace this rotation can’t compare to Mets, Braves, Dodgers, Padres…even the Brewers. This pitching staff is not good.

August 1, 2022 at 11:40 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #193320Is this a win this year team? I don’t know. But if you look at other contending teams I don’t see the one sure thing shutdown pitcher for the Cardinals and it sure won’t be Montas. Mets, Dodgers, Braves, San Diego and even the Brewers have the “dude”. Some of them have even two. Can you win the world series without an “ace”? maybe. I don’t know what the solution is for this year but until the pitching gets as close as possible elite we don’t have much of chance.
This forum has a lot of very set on their ways posters that post blanket statements like it is the gospel. I come in once in a while but can’t find a connection. Statements like players like Gorman are a dime a dozen make no sense. How do you know what he is going to be as a player at this point? I don’t know. But you do right now. Weird.

July 29, 2022 at 10:44 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 100 thread – Friday, July 29 at Nationals #192907He is hitting .249 at Triple A? He needs to stay and learn how to hit. OPS .865 lol does not count
Well I rather have a .275 hitter with a .900 plus OPS
Exactly BHC, currently .401 OBP
His career numbers. .291 ba for you that only looks at ba. I know you don’t like “new metrics” but they are not replacing batting average, they are enhancing it. A xtra base hitter at .245 will be more valuable that .350 singles hitter. He did hit .313 last year. But I know two games make him a bad investment.
Two games??? He is 23 have you seen his numbers? We need pitching but it would be hard to pass on Soto.
I know I am in the minority. I have no problems with shifts. But it will be interesting to see how they outlaw them and how they penalize transgressions.
Good post jj other stats help breakdown BA
For only two years of Soto? I highly doubt they will sign him long term. They need pitching.
