    Bottom of 3

Nooty flies out to Hicks in short center.

DeJong lines a shot but Gonzalez at SS is able to pluck it off his shoelaces for the out.

Yadi lines a base hit to left….. milestone hit as that’s Yadi’s 1000th Busch hit

Edman is denied a base hit to right field on a nice play by the 2nd baseman Torres.

Man, Waino didn’t need that blown DP chance. Never good to give them an extra out.

Waino at 74 pitches as we start inning #4. Gonzalez flies out to O’Neill in left field.
Lemahieu on 3-2 doubles to left-center field. And as the late great Flip Wilson used to say “Here comes the Judge”…….and there goes the Judge…trotting on down to 1st base, compliments of an intentional free pass. Carp bounces it slowly to Edman at 2nd and he’ll just get the one out at 2nd…..Yanks straddling the corners now with 2 out. Donaldson on 3-2 walks on Waino’s 100th pitch of this ballgame. Torres grounds out to DeJong at SS.

Waino is not really Waini today. Time to give him a seat.

Packy is going to have to go multiple innings. I don’t trust TJ. Stratton and Helsley should be available. Hicks, Gio, Cabrera all threw yesterday and a day off tomorrow, but we’ve seen Cabrera stats on back to back days too. Pallante threw 65 pitches on Friday and would have to think he’s not available.

Bottom of 4. Albert Abreu the new New York reliever.

Carlson flies out to Benintendi in left field.

Donovan strikes out looking and both offensives have quieted down some in this ballgame…..

Goldy just about had extra bases on a liner to right that missed kicking up chalk by less than an inch. Goldy walks.

Arenado is rung up on a pitch that looked to be not exactly in the zone off the outside corner.

Adam gave Benintendi something hittable on 0-2. Hate to see Waino struggling with command. He’s about done today, I think.

Waino starts inning #5 with 103 pitches under his belt.

Benintendi lifts a long drive to right-center that no one is going to catch up with….and it’ll hit the turf once and carom right on up into the seats for a ground rule double.

Hicks walks and this is a situation that I just might bring Helsley into…… Marmol won’t do it of course, but in this sort of a game vs this team, I think it would be a wise move. And that will do it for Waino….

Not a strong game for Waino today. Thankfully the offense picked him up a bit. Hopefully the pen holds out.

I’m not sure why Wainwright started the inning. Had LH Benintendi, switch Hicks, Trevino, switch hitting Gonzalez. If you were going to use McFarland it would have been the ample time to try to sneak an inning, or at least 4 batters.

Chris Stratton on for St. Louis with Yankees at 1st & 2nd and no outs.

Trevino rips a base hit to right and Nooty’s strong-arm reputation will prevent the Yankees from getting a little loose on the base paths as Benintendi slams on the brakes at 3rd…..bases loaded. Gonzalez on 3-1 fouls off ball 4….then strikes out looking on a questionable call….this one finally going the Cardinals way….we deserved that! Lemahieu strikes out swinging and oh oh…..here comes Judge once again in a crucial situation…..Judge whacks it high and deep to center….. Carlson back to the wall and it lands over his head…..one…..two Yankees will score on the Judge double and this game is knotted up at 6. Carp…..now Aaron Boone is coming out to give the home plate ump a piece of his mind and oh my is Boone giving it to him! The ump is standing there taking it….I think he knows this has not been a banner game for himself. Carp strikes out looking and he’s voicing his displeasure with the call……stand in line Carp!

Now Stratton serves up a meatball to Judge. We aren’t playing the Cubs here.

They mentioned Yepez going on rehab soon. Where does even fit in the roster right now?

Bottom of 5. Abreu still pitching for N.Y.

    O’Neill strikes out swinging.

Nooty smokes a liner into right field for a base hit.

DeJong whacks a drive down the right field line. …fair ball and Nooty is rounding 3rd and will score …oh oh, the Yanks want this play reviewed as they have the contention that the ball hit the upper sidewall railing and thus should be ruled a ground rule double….. we’ll await the decision…. it’s not ruled a ground rule double so the run stays…..7-6 Cards. Pitching change…. Loasiga now pitching for the Yanks

Yadi pops out to Lemahieu in foul territory just a few feet off the bag at 1st.

Edman blisters a base hit to center and Paulie is rounding 3rd and heading for paydirt….. He’s out! But the Cards, with good reason, do not trust this umps ability to make the correct call, and thus want a review. Safe is the official call! 8-6 Good Guys. Edman meandered on over to 2nd base on the throw home.

Carlson on 3-2 fouls off a couple then walks.

    Donovan

No more potty breaks for Ozzy until this game is in the books, Cardinal In France…..give the pooch no liquids.

As far as a spot on the active roster, either Dickerson goes or Nooty craters and goes to Memphis.
