In all the trade scenarios, we need to give up something of value. I agree with many posters that including Woodford in a trade would be the best thing for him. I have seen other sites that think we will have to part with Burleson and maybe even Libby. Including DeJong in a trade for someone looking for solid defense would make sense, or even Del Perez. Neither of those SS have much of a chance at a promotion here unless an injury takes out a starter. Possibly Baker would interest teams with a need at 1B or DH. Not sure how attractive C. Thomas would be to anyone, and he will need to be added to the 40 man this fall. Other ideas?

I have been watching Darlin Moquete with Palm Beach. Tied for the lead in HR for the team but struggling to keep his avg. up. I found it interesting that he is listed as an outfielder but has been playing a lot of 2B due to the need for infielders. His numbers in DSL were great but the pandemic really hurt his development. He will need to move quickly through the system to have any chance to get to the big leagues.
That brings up a thought I have been pondering: With the minors missing an entire season two years ago, has the appropriate age for particular levels changed as well? Take into account the shrinking of the lower level minor league teams. Will teams be forced to make quicker decisions on players that are slow to develop and cut a possible “late bloomer”? Would make a great article in a few years to look back on prospects within the organization and how all these factors played into their careers or lack thereof.

I noticed on the Palm Beach website that Tre Fletcher’s roster status had changed, and they list it as he has been suspended! Any clue what this was for?
I will be greatly surprised if the Cards make a trade for a top starter or bullpen piece without feeling a big loss from our prospect list. Not sure who it would be, but offering someone our 2nd or third tier players won’t cut it for a good player. Like Brian has said, to get quality you have to give up quality. That’s why I am not a GM; because I hate to part with really good prospects for someone we only have for a couple of months. Yes, the right piece may help us in October, but….
Guess I am feeling the regret of our trade with Miami a few years ago….Any word on why Waddell has not pitched since June 15? Is he injured?

Hey Brian, or anyone else who has an opinion;
Have the Cardinals entertained the idea of trying Tre Fletcher as a pitcher since he is having such a hard time with the bat? They paid him a healthy signing bonus so may as well try to get something from their investment! If I remember right, he was a two way player before he signed, and has a good arm.Lee, not going to be able to go tomorrow afternoon. Tonight’s game is the only one I am able to attend. Are you going Wednesday?
I will be at the Memphis game in Indy tonight! Going to be a hot one, but It’s the only time the team will be close to home, so I will be going! Bummed that I won’t get to see the stud shortstop for Pirates since he was just called up to the majors. Looking forward to seeing our AAA team in person!

Brian, I know some roster changes were made for the beginning of the short season clubs, and I looked on the Milb roster websites for each of our clubs, but I missed what happened to a few players. I cna’t seem to find:
Miranda
Almonte
F Guzman
They have been on the DSL roster but are not there or on the FCL roster. Is this one of those transactions that just hasn’t made it to the light of day yet?Thanks for the insight, Brian. Hoping he can prove you wrong, but I suspect you are correct. He needs to step it up with this chance in Palm Beach.
I saw Shelby Miller has been released from his contract with the Yankees minor league team. Numbers didn’t look too bad, maybe try to sign him to a minor league deal for possible help in the pen. Not sure he would sign with the Cards, but worth a look. Any thoughts?
I noticed that Jacob Bosiokovic was activated from the IL on May 10, but hasn’t seen any action since. Is he still hurt or trying to get his arm back to normal? Would have thought they would keep him on the IL to get back in shape. Memphis could really use his arm out of the pen!
I was excited to see Darlin Moquete’s promotion to Palm Beach after seeing the numbers he has put up the last few years. He just needs to be more consistent to get a real chance to stay there or move up.
Brian, have any thoughts on him (ie. did you see him at ST)?Watching the Springfield game tonight and have been amazed by the arm of Masyn Winn! He has made some great throws from short. I knew he was also a pitcher but he showed me something tonight! Hit well tonight, too! (3 for 5 in the top of the ninth with two doubles!)

I agree that Hicks could use some time at AAA to work on his control, regardless if he is a starter or reliever. Not sure the Cards will see it that way, but I think that would be best for Hicks and the team. We could really benefit by Hicks pitching more strikes with his great movement. Keeping him in the starting lineup right now is not helping.
