Maybe starting a new “2027 TCN Community Top 50 Prospect Voting Thread” would be better than “unsticking” this one. I’m with Jnevel about watching the AFL results, and would prefer waiting a bit to do the rankings. Who knows, maybe some trades will happen after the WS and before the probable shutdown, and we will have a few new prospects to fold into the mix!
#STLCards manager Oli Marmol revealed that third baseman Blaze Jordan won’t play again in ‘26 because of the high ankle sprain he suffered on Aug. 27. Jordan, who has been working through the rehab to return, will be shut down because of the severity of the injury he suffered.

Watching the Memphis game tonight and I wonder why Austin Love is still on the team! First three batters reached base scoring two runs. His ERA before this inning was almost 8! I guess bringing him in with a five run lead was better than a closer game. He hasn’t pitched well the last couple of times I have seen him.
After listening to the podcast this week, I was curious about the Springfield lineup compared to the playoffs last year. From what I could tell, only Clemente, Lin and Watson were on the roster at the end of the year in 2025 that are still on the roster this year. I was a little surprised that there was that much change! I guess the Development system is working like it supposed to!

How did Wetherholt look?
His first at bat his timing was not there. He struck out in the first, and flew out to center his next two at bats. He was removed after that 3rd at bat with no mention at the stadium if he was hurt. Since he just came off the IL, it was probably planned all along.
One other cool thing that happened while at the game was I bumped into a bunch of people wearing Springfield Cardinal jerseys and recognized a couple of them that do promo videos for the team. Almost all of the staff from the stadium (Route 66) were there together for the game! Must have been perk for the team going to the playoffs!
I will be at this game for my final in person game of the year! Looking forward to seeing the game! I am hoping Wetherholt is activated for this game!

Jumping back to Mendoza, would he be a candidate to send to the AFL to showcase to another team and boost any trade value? Doesn’t look like he has much of a future with the Cards since he is blocked by several players!

08/23/26 – RHP Anthony Watts assigned to FCL Cardinals from Palm Beach Cardinals.They don’t show him going back on the IL, but I know they have missed transactions before!
Brian, the Roster Matrix is showing that Anthony Watts is on the Palm Beach IL, but MiLB is showing him back at FCL. Did they miss a transaction?
Any chance Mendoza will get a call up? Good numbers at AAA, but at 26, the time would have to be now! I believe he will be a free agent at the end of the year, unless he signs a one year deal with the Cards. Appreciate your thoughts.
I would not be surprised if they signed a starting pitcher like May to a one year deal and trade them at the deadline. It worked this year! So much unknown with the new CBA and how any rules will be changed!
