Hey Brian, I just looked at the lineup for the DSL team, and noticed how loaded they seem to be! One thing that stood out is that Luna hasn’t played since July 11. Is he hurt or are they protecting him for the future? Any way to find out what is going on with him?
I think Peirera is out of options, at least according to Fangraphs. I guess we will find out today if he ends up in Memphis!
Is Jurrangelo Cijntje and Tai Peete eligible for this years Rule 5? If so, protecting them would be wise!
I love the dynamics of this years Rule 5 with not knowing if it even transpires! Brian’s reminder that 40-man roster players will not be able to participate in any team practice or training can really make a difference in many of these young players lives. I imagine that the staff will have some serious planning meetings before the deadline to submit the 40-man roster, considering the uncertainty of the off season this year. Fun stuff to consider!
If I remember correctly, teams still had to lock players into the 40 man because the deadline for that (mid November) was before teams got locked out. Since the Rule 5 draft takes place after Dec. 1, (and the lockout was already in place) no draft actually happened. Because of the shortened timeline after an agreement was reached and the season would start, owners agreed that no Rule 5 would take place that season.
Glad to see the two moved up from FCL to Palm Beach! They deserved it!

As far as Dobbins returning before 15 days, 85booyah was correct:
Marmol was keen to remind me just about an hour ago that the 15-day option period can be waived after a trade, so Dobbins could immediately return in the event of such.

I wonder if the Cardinals would be interested in a pitcher that grew up across the river in my hometown of Highland? Geoff Hartlieb was DFA’d by the Athletics today.
Stay hydrated, Rat! That storm coming down from Chicago is hitting Indianapolis right now! The rain is knocking down the heat, but humidity is still up there. My MLB.TV was blacked out for the Cincy series, so I wonder if I will be blacked out for Chicago as well? We will see!
