There might be something to that tweet. Dodgers just had an international guy back out his deal with them.

BW I’m not bemoaning the system. The system is what it is. I’m bemoaning in how the Cardinals conduct their business and it sucks. The FO has sucked for a long time now. Yes the fans notice and I’m sure as heck the players also notice how cheap this team has gotten, especially when it comes to a measly $1.2M for Dollar Bill Dewitt. The team could still negotiate with players until the arb hearings but they refuse to and it comes off as cheap, especially when they’ve already cut $40M from the payroll. Its the team’s decision to stop negotiating, not the players. That’s where the problem comes from. Obviously you have stated you like the “File and Trial” approach. However, many of us do not. That’s where the difference comes from.

Trial and file does create a deadline but when you’re squabbling over $1.2M combined for 3 players, you come off as poor and petty, especially when the FO is already persona non grata with the fanbase.

Sorry JJ I just don’t have any empathy for guys making millions to play a kids game. Even less for the business owners. In fact, Im inching closer and closer, after 60 years of following major league bb, to shutting the door on it. There’s other people playing the game besides these guys. I can watch them.

This line of thinking really irks me. These guys spent their entire lives training, practicing, and learning a skill that makes owners and the league billions of dollars. Why shouldn’t they be fairly compensated for what they produce? I don’t see this argument used against actors and actresses that get big paychecks or musicians.

Well the Cards almost hit the X and Y axis of mediocrity.

I seriously hope Arenado isn’t with the team in 2025.

Cardinals could possibly get 4 draft picks within the first 100 picks. That’s huge!

Any idea who the Cards moved to Memphis to protect them from the MiLB phase of the Rule 5 Draft?

I’d be in favor of putting them all in except for Harris who I just don’t know enough about.

It was reported yesterday that Matt Slater is leaving the organization. He was critical in the Cardinals making inroads in Latin America and Asia. Really looks like a huge loss.

If they pick the umpires this year like they did last year, it will be from the list of umpires who worked the 2024 Divisional Series round. That list includes:

    Mark Carlson
    Lance Barksdale

Haha!…No Royals? You don’t like Brett or Freddie Patek?

Dominican, I hate everything about Kansas City. The little sister syndrome is too real with that entire city and I have built up hate for the KC Chiefs owners.

I’d prefer they don’t bring Gibson back and just use their prospect pitchers. Need to know if any of these guys are good.

MLBTradeRumors just released their projected arbitration salaries for 2025. Here are the Cardinals projections:

    Ryan Helsley (5.105): $6.9MM
    JoJo Romero (4.045): $1.9MM
    John King (3.145): $1.5MM
    Lars Nootbaar (3.076): $2.5MM
    Brendan Donovan (3.000): $3.6MM
    Andre Pallante (2.145): $2.3MM

The perfect time to trade Helsley was at the trade deadline. They would have gotten a kings ransom in terms of prospects but it just goes to show how incompetent and out of touch this FO is. By all accounts the team was outperforming their metrics and the FO ignored these facts when they made the dumb trades they did at the deadline.

The Cardinals FO cannot even be truthful about what is happening. They literally hosted a press conference to talk about reorganization of their player development and when Dollar Bill DeWitt was asked about caused the Cardinals player development to get into such a mess he backtracks and says the player development isn’t bad because they have all of these young guys.

On top of that, they refuse to call this what its going to be. It’s a rebuild. How long the rebuild takes remains to be seen but it’s a rebuild. It doesn’t have to be a complete tear down like the Astros and Cubs did but still a rebuild. I just hate how they refuse to be honest about what has happened.

Also, Mozeliak is their biggest PR problem and they kept him as POBO and GM. I don’t see a lot of fans returning as long as he remains. Sure they can promote their young stars like Wynn, Walker, etc. but as long as Mo remains fans will still away simply because they grew to dislike him and even hate him. Doubling down on him seems incompetent. Chaim Bloom had an entire year to study the system and put together a report, why couldn’t he just be placed in Charge with Mo getting a “promotion”? Heck Mo led the freaking press conference yesterday. Its remarkable just how out of touch the DeWitts are when it comes to their fanbase.

Yes McGee is a major league coach, not a minor league coach. McGee wasn’t in Memphis working with Walker.
