Yeah, Bikemike, that replay was from the deciding game 5 of the ’77 ALCS. Two 3B’man and a punch for a kick and then all hell broke loose…Haha! What’s really interesting, and is a reminder of how the game was once played, is that no one was ejected after order was restored. Let the fellas play hardball!
Did somebody say Costas loves him some Yankees and Judge? In the 4th inning, Costas went from euphoria to disappointment in a flash during Judge’s AB, starting with the crack of the bat and ending with the ball dying at the warning track. Yanks did end up getting a run later in the inning to lead 1-0.

Another humorous scene of that ’77 game 5 ALCS melee was the fiery Billy Martin off to the side of the fisticuffs with his arm affectionately wrapped around the shoulder of little Freddie Patek as the two of them stood and watched the action of the prize fight from a safe distance…It’s as if they’re both saying to one another, let’s stay over here and watch from where we’re safe from getting sucker punched…Haha!
KC escapes the 5th inning mess okay, now down 2-0. Bases were loaded with one out, then Soto and Judge could plate just one of the runners.
Lugo gets Judge on a lazy fly ball out to CF to end the inning. I’d say KC’s fortunate to only be down 2-0…Go Royals!
Considering how cheap the Rays are they will probably just leave it as an open air stadium. Save some money on AC.
The stadium, already open for business, is how mlb was lured to town. I’ve always viewed them as tennant on a 30yr lease.
It needs a new cover on the umbrella, for the next three seasons, or back up 15 and punt.Open air it would probably be like Colt 45 Stadium in Houston. 1st grade age me in the middle of a sweaty stinky crowd and everybody assaulted by relentless swarms of giant mosquitoes that landed all over everyone.
The Rays have had plans for the construction of a new ballpark venue for well over a year now. The proposal calls for tax payers to kick in approx. $600M to pay for it. The Rays ownership is also getting assistance in the form of tax breaks and discounted prices on land. Sounds like a sweet deal. Meanwhile, the average citizen who loses everything in the devastation that occurs during one of these natural disasters is left begging for assistance and at the mercy of a system that often seems dysfunctional and painfully slow to respond. Meanwhile, Billy Jr. and others like him, feel entitled to reach into the pockets of average working people in order to subsidize their investments. And so it goes…
I don’t think having the public kick in to help finance a stadium is necessarily a bad thing in and of itself. It depends on the situation.
The Rockies had the public pay for about 3/4 of the cost of Coors Field when it was built and opened for business in 1995. It was built in what had been a rundown area of downtown, and played a big part in revitalizing the area. It was a win-win for fans, business owners and the team.
The Rockies are unique though in that the ball club does not own the stadium. They actually rent Coors Field from a third party owner.
