I’m with willie, I like the Orioles. They became my favorite AL team in the 60s after the Cards became my favorite MLB team. Hopefully, they’ll even things up tomorrow. I like seeing Shildt do well too.

I like the O’s too Euro, and if KC doesn’t advance to reperesent the AL, I’ll take the O’s as my second choice. However, if I’m thinking along the lines of reality, I’d have to guess that this may be the year of a Yankees/Dodgers WS.

I’ll take any team that isn’t the Astros, Dodgers, Royals, Brewers or Yankees.

Boog Powell and Brooks Robinson are going to be hard to beat.

They sure were, Bling. I’ll echo the favorable sentiments in Baltimore’s direction, as they have always been my second favorite team. Why? As a small child, for about a two year period, I sent out request letters to teams asking for any free stuff that they may be kind enough to part with for an eager fan. I did this every other weekend. They were just short notes saying how much I loved their team and how great it would be to be the lucky recipient of any kindness that they possibly could part with for a young adoring fan. Some teams like Philadelphia,
Boston and Atlanta never replied back, so they were quickly removed from my mailing list. Some teams would send a small item and call it a day. The cheapskate cubbies always sent a price sheet of items to purchase, so after a few requests, I ceased sending them letters. Why I wanted anything from them in the first place, to this day, remains a mystery. The Cardinals always sent me 2 small decals, which was great. The Pads always sent a neat item or two like bumper stickers or team photos. But the Orioles……oh the Orioles…..were always a treasure trove of goodies. They never failed to respond and each time it would be a very large envelope filled with decals, team pics, player pics (every once in awhile autographed) and other neat items about the team. Every day after school, I couldn’t wait to get home to open up our mailbox. I so wish I had kept those tons of items that I had received. But a lucky baseball card shop in Bowling Green, Ohio, took possession of them and all of my late 60’s early 70’s baseball cards during my freshman year in college, for the bargain price of $600……which was spent almost solely on beer on Thursday(back then Thursdays were big college drinkingnights), Friday and Saturday nights at local drinking establishments.

The Padres look dangerous. Preller is in a nice window after all his wheeling and dealing. He may have hit on the secret sauce at just the right time.

That’s outstanding, Pugs. I wish I’d have thought of that approach for souvenirs. In regards to decals, I applied an old Cardinal decal to the bedroom window of my boyhood home when I was about 10 or 11 years old. It was the round 60’s style logo with the single Redbird on a bat placed in the middle of a baseball of which was bordered with a simple script of “St. Louis, Cardinals.” I occasionally drive by my old house which is situated about 10 miles from where we now live and that same Cardinal decal is still proudly displayed on that window pane. That little Redbird’s been firmly stuck on that glass for at least 55 years. They don’t make decals like they used to…Haha!

Dominican, I hate everything about Kansas City. The little sister syndrome is too real with that entire city and I have built up hate for the KC Chiefs owners.

I have similar sentiments regarding the Mets, BlackHills, so they’re the play-off team I detest this season. Back when the Egyptians were still building the Pyramids, I recall rooting for the Royals when they were embroiled in battle with the Yankees in those all time classic 5 game ALCS between Whitey’s Royals and Billy’s Yankees. At any rate, I decided to pull for the only Missouri team represented in this year’s post-season. I’d also like to see the Dodgers have some success because I like Freddie Freeman and our old friend “Little Eddie”…At any rate, enjoy the post-season, because it’s a long winter without any baseball!

Detroit leading Houston by a scant 1-0 score in the 7th, but the Tigers are in a world of trouble as the Astros have the bases jammed up with no outs and Singleton standing in.

The state I reside in (Arkansas) is definitely Cardinal country however there have always been several Oriole fans in the area due to Brooks Robinson, who hailed from this state. I never did have the pleasure of meeting him but I know several old timers who did and they spoke very highly of him as a good guy and great player.

Astros take a 2-1 lead via a run apiece on a FC and SF, but Detroit comes right back in the visitor half of the 8th to tie it up at 2 and still has the bases jammed up with 2 out. Another good play-off baseball game.

Whoa…The Tigers bust it open on a scorching bases clearing PH triple down the LF line from Ibanez! He really uncoiled and turned on that pitch from Hader. 5-2, Detroit.

Detroit moves on. They win over Houston 5-2 at the Astrodome.

Kansas City with another 1-0 lead on Baltimore in the 4th at Memorial Stadium.

I wouldn’t want to play the Tigers right now. They’re shooting sevens and drawing to aces. Dangerous team that had to scratch and claw for an entire month to qualify for a playoff berth, which I feel is the best way for a baseball team to enter into the post-season fray.

Another tight 1-1 in game in the 6th at Camden Yards. Uh oh…KC takes a 2-1 lead on a 2 out RBI, IF single from Witt Jr.

This Bobby Witt Jr. is pretty good. He kind of reminds me of another good SS who played for KC. Freddie Patek…Haha!

Dom, when Cowser struck out w/bases loaded, they sent the runner back to 3B due to a deadball? Right?

I didn’t see that play, jj. I’m assuming Perez didn’t cleanly handle the third strike? If that was the case, I don’t understand how it would be called a deadball.

I really like when they show the video replay control room in NY during these challenges. I thought I saw some money changing hands…

Ok, Cowsers was HBP on a swinging K. The K overrides the HBP, but the HBP causes a deadball, and the runner doesn’t score. I think. All this w/bases loaded, so no throw to 1B was necessary.

Yeah, I missed that, jj. I was either in the kitchen or Mrs. 1TD was asking me about plans for din-din…Haha! I even tried to back it up on our cable system, but it wouldn’t rewind that far. I probably changed the channel during an ad break.

They just said if the O’s lose this game, it’ll be their 10th straight post-season loss. That sounds all too familiar.
