This is a step in the right direction. The youthful whiz kid has a good track record, and from the tone of his farewell letter to the Guardians’ team is a high character dude.

Good to see the Cardinals putting action to words, and not just saying what they hope appeases the fan base.

It was reported yesterday that Matt Slater is leaving the organization. He was critical in the Cardinals making inroads in Latin America and Asia. Really looks like a huge loss.

It would seem unsurprising if an old regime guy like Slater did not like the new boy wonder Cerfolio, similar to how Jockety’s people did not like Luhnow.

It’s time to shuffle the deck. Nobody has performed at a level that I can see that immunizes them from being got gone. Maybe Randy Flores.

Slater has been in the FO something like 15 years, so he, like LaRocque and Girsch, arrived during the glory years and rode it all the way down. I don’t know any of them, just sayin. The decade plus long slide of the whole system was not 100% entirely the sole fault of Turner Ward.

It’s not fun to see anyone lose a job. (Usually) But this is how these things go. Some good people will be let go in the reorganization.

Yeah, I saw that article. Talking about wanting to embrace the Cardinal way. There aren’t many of those Cardinal Way guys from the 80s left in the organization, but there is one, Willie McGee, and they fired him. Off to a great start.
