Looks like they added Hence, Roby, Svanson, and Koperniak to the 40 man today to protect them. Glad to see Koperniak added.

I also like seeing Koperniak. I am guessing they have him pegged as a 4th OF type who likely will be contributing this year.

Any idea who the Cards moved to Memphis to protect them from the MiLB phase of the Rule 5 Draft?

    And what will Siani do?

BHC – they get 38 players they can protect from the minor league rule 5. Certainly all the guys that were in consideration for the major league phase are going there. But they have around 40 others in addition that are eligible. It might be easier to guess at the 5-10 players who they might not protect. Angel Cuenca, Agusto Calderon, maybe Zane Mills. There will have to be a few others. It’s likely we lose a couple this year. But these are guys who typically have very, very low odds of ever making it.

If they are really going with the youth movement, i really wish they would give Koperniak a shot this year. I’ve seen a lot of posters on other sites saying he’s a AAAA player. I keep wondering how you can say someone’s a AAAA player if they never get a shotin the show.

I don’t know , Card. Nick Dunn hit .300+ year after year and it didn’t matter. I get the feeling the only difference is we had lots of second base depth but we are hard up for outfield depth. Hard up as in nothing at all besides Koperniak.
