Very true, Jnevel, but I had hoped Dunn would get a cup of coffee this past month. Kind of like Irving Lopez got last year.
Dunn has 586 PAs in AAA and carried a .311 BA and 386 OBP with a 10% K rate and more walks than strike outs. He will find his way onto a ML roster next year.

I actually really like that decision as we need to open up spots for younger pitchers. It saves money, and more importantly helps the younger pitchers develop.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand a move like this. I’m trying to figure it out. Maybe ‘flexibility’ means that having a player like Munoz available enables the Cardinals to avoid bringing up a pitcher that’s not ready for the major leagues yet.
They may try to find one or two more similar guys that can be stashed at Memphis for emergency use, or even covering some turns in the rotation for a while when they break camp. The eye being more on durable emergency innings eater rather than potentially being good. They are potentially offing several rotation members, and somebody has to take the innings. Last year, there was a massive number of starter prospects on the IL.
I look at these as costing nothing. If they see someone better, then they just DFA him and maybe he passes through waivers and maybe not. There is absolutely zero risk and only potential upside.

Munoz is pretty terrible. Brenden S did a whole podcast on him. Don’t even consider that this dude is going to help.
It’s just part of the Cardinals marketing message – expect the Cardinals to get worse, because they are poor.
