Matheny has a bad problem of leaving starters in games too long. VEB did a analysis of this just a week ago. Looks like Cubs will be breaking out the champagne tonight.

I don’t know what stats you’re looking at Rats. According to baseball-reference he’s only grounded into 14 doubleplays this season. He’s also playing an all star caliber lever. You don’t bench him. Now come 2019 or 2020 and if his level has dropped off a cliff I would agree with you point. But right now I adamantly disagree.

How about Oh has been a bad pitcher for most of the season so why bring him into that situation? Because MM falls in love with players (ie Allen Craig) and doesn’t realize when it’s time to use them or not use them.
