Allow me to add, Burleson has basically had 3 good weeks in MLB. And his last games he’s slugging a paltry .321.
So while we all love & appreciate Burleson’s hot streak, I’m not convinced he’s the next Willie Stargell just yet. Eleven XBHS all season doesn’t excite me at all.
bccran, I hope you are right. Because that would probably put Walker at an All Start caliber hitter. I just hope Walker can be as good of an MLB hitter at 25 as Burleson currently is. Burleson was a pretty dominant hitter at AAA his last season there. Walker is no where close at AAA now to where Burleson was then at AAA.
Gee Shady…I guess I’d be wasting my breath pointing out that the just turned 22 Walker has a career .752 OPS & 105 OPS+ while your beloved Burly has a career .701 OPS and 94 OPS+.

You know this how? Was it a conversation you had with Helsley or Card’s trainer? Possibly you’re a Doctor who has examined the Cardinal flamethrower? Maybe you were in the bullpen watching him throw?
I think with your apparent inside knowledge you should’ve contacted DD and let him know it was okay to send RH out for a second relief appearance after his save earlier in the day!

I’ve seen nothing new from Burleson. He’s still a below average hitter. Period. That cannot be reasonably disputed.
He has a .686 OPS and a 96 OPS+ on tge season. Below average. Nothing new. He’s drawn a grand total of 5 walks in 103 PA’s. Pathetic. His Slugg%, the one thing he’s supposed to excel at is a comical .392. Last season it was .390.
Keep pimping him, but at the end of the day, he’s a poor man’s Roger Freed or Joe Hague. Two immortal Redbirds!
I’m intrigued by Siani. Is he:
A) The type who the more he plays, the better he’ll hit?
Or
B) The type you don’t overexpose at the plate as teams will figure him out?
As a guy who appreciates the value of speed & defense, I really love his speed & defense. I would also agree that he needs to be laying down at least one bunt per game. He’ll beat some out, but that keeps the infield drawn in as well.
Getting Matt Carpenter back is like a trade….right? lol
Wonder if Mo understands most are no longer buying BS lines like this any longer?
Mr shady…I acknowledge his hitting potential. But he’s 25 and in his 3rd season. How long do we have to wait for that potential to translate to hitting prowess?
I have a problem with a guy who can’t run, can’t field, has no track record of success at this level, and is occupying a MOTOB position in the lineup while not even being a league average hitter (99 OPS+).
This is why we’re once again a last place team. I’d guess 2/3 of the mlb teams would not have your boy on their roster.
But here’s the thing….
Just because Burleson is now one of the Cards most productive hitters, doesn’t make him a good hitter.
I do hate being a kill-joy, but these are Burleson’s numbers:

These numbers are terrible for a guy who doesn’t run well or field a position well. You don’t build teams around guys with a 99 OPS+ UNLESS they have another valuable skill (incredible speed or elite defense).
So with all due respect, you need to slow your roll Mr Shady! Burleson is still a very disappointing player on a bad baseball team.

Montgomery has more BB than strikeouts. And he has over 200 PA’s.
Not sure his strikeouts are a major concern. Doesn’t seem an unreasonable amount, but time will tell.The player we need is Braden Montgomery.
Big, fast, switch-hitting outfielder with a cannon arm.
Turns 21 in two days. Plays for A&M and currently hitting .370 with a 1.400 OPS. 22 HR in 154 ABs. And get this: 41 BB with only 32 strikeouts.
Could be a game-changer.
I would think by now we all would have learned that hitting success at Triple A does not always translate to hitting success in The Show.
For example, Burleson looked like a Hall of Famer at Triple A, but he’s a big, stinking turd in The Show.

Anything possible with this organization these days.
But Gorman has been really good at second and I’m confident he’ll turn it around offensively.
Walker is a strong possibility. Former third baseman should have no problems at first.
Burleson hits for absolutely no power. The days of slap hitters playing first are over.
Something they could do is move Arenado to first. He’d probably win a couple more Gold Gloves there and maybe Saggese or Prieto moves to third? Maybe Donovan?

Who knows what Walker will be?
He’s a 21 year-old with 470 career ABs and a respectable .761 OPS.
About a thousand economists have studied this 100 thousand times and the conclusion is always that stadiums NEVER bring in the economic windfall promised by owners.
Bill DeWitt is now worth multiple billions per Forbes and others. He needs to spend his own money. Period.
Gotta get that offense going. Desperately need Edman & Carlson back. I know Carlson is not a favorite, but he’s always hit better than Siani or Scott.

But Mr Shady, RBK just showed you that NOT striking out does not necessarily lead to production. I’m not sure how you can ignore facts so consistently?
I don’t care if Burleson strikes out 200 times a year IF he has a .950 OPS or hits 45 dingers. Conversely, I don’t care if he never strikes out again, if he can’t get his OPS above .650.
Well Mr Shafy, I am happy that you enjoy watching Burleson compete. After all, baseball IS entertainment.

Have you also enjoyed eatching Burleson FAIL for 3 straight MLB seasons? Because the available data confirms that he is a below-average mlb hitter in his career and a huge failure at the plate.
