My keen eye for talent could see after only about 3 or 4 seasons that Pujols was going to be a fine hitter…
April 15, 2024 at 7:32 pm #248184*Sigh* There is no “anti-Burleson crowd.”
28 pages of wiggly worms like this on hooks. The insults are a plenty, he’s hoping to enrage us.
All repetitive
April 15, 2024 at 7:35 pm #248185t8ball12, it seems you are attempting to be CN moderator, again. Please just leave me alone. I just want to talk Cardinals baseball with other respectful posters.
April 15, 2024 at 7:37 pm #248186I wish the game threads had this much chatter.
April 15, 2024 at 7:38 pm #248187Good faith chatter would be ideal, 1td
April 15, 2024 at 7:55 pm #248189t8ball12, please try to adhere to that. This is a good board. Please let bygones be bygones here.
April 15, 2024 at 8:22 pm #248192This thread easily wins the Ridiculous Thread of the Year Award – assuming we had such a thing. It’s actually starting to make me laugh when I bother to read it.
Can we all just agree on the following:
Burleson is the 5th or 6th outfielder on this team when everyone is healthy.
Burleson is a strong candidate for backup 1B when Goldschmidt rests, that is if Donovan is filling in elsewhere.
Burleson is good at not striking out because he’s good at making contact.
Much of Burleson’s contact is poor, hence why he runs a low BA and BABiP.
Burleson could get better. Given his age, he probably will get at least a little better.
Burleson is a poor outfield defender, although much better than Yepez. He’s poor because he’s slow. But he has decent instincts and a good arm so he can be average-ish in LF in some stadiums.
Burleson will never win a race against Victor Scott. Ok – I’m just throwing this one in there because I’m almost certain we should be able to get unanimous agreement on this one – even on this thread.
Burleson is probably a good guy to hang out with and have a drink. Maybe not, but he sure seems like he would be.
How’s that? Everyone agreed? Now let’s move to the game thread and help our Cards win a few in a row.
April 15, 2024 at 8:32 pm #248195@Shady. I know I’m not a moderator. I was raising a grievance, and showed from the first rule in the Rules thread my said grievance. I entered into this thread and participated in good faith baseball discussion on topic, with facts provided, just like others have done and are doing. You pivoted towards insults and putting words into our mouths, then you called us out individually… in hopes to continue your thread.
I just wanted you to stop the attacks and stay on point.
my apologies to the rest of the board and Brian if I offended anyone with my raised grievance.
April 15, 2024 at 9:19 pm #248212So much baiting and posturing and lecturing and playing the victim. So much supposedly taking the high road, but not really. So much playing moderator. But so little baseball talk. Sooooooooooo boring.
I would close this thread but the three-ring circus would just move to a different tent.
If the posters active on this thread would just join the rest of the discussions here and stop saying the same things over and over again about one of the least important players on this team, we would all be forever grateful.
But you guys just can’t help yourselves.
April 16, 2024 at 12:10 pm #248292Couldn’t agree more about him being “least important player on the roster” and personally will not give any more oxygen to this dumpster fire of a topic.

ParticipantBurleson is a special case for several reasons.
First, he was drafted in 2020 and missed out on a whole summer of development. Then in 2022, he was promoted from high A to AA to AAA in his first professional season. In 2022, he was allowed to settle in at AAA and slashed a strong .331/.372/.532/.905 in 109 games. He smashed 20 home runs and drove in 87. So the Cardinals know he can hit and hit with some power.
Secondly, the Cards have had guys also with strong AAA numbers, like Arozarena and Garcia, go on to highly productive major league careers. Mo has taken heat over that and it has probably increased his patience quotient. He might not want to be criticized for another mistake in talent assessment.April 16, 2024 at 12:59 pm #248295My 12 year old grandson always has to have the last word too.

ParticipantSorry to offend you, BB. Just trying to post in an effective manner. Didn’t mean to miss the mark or be redundant.
April 17, 2024 at 6:08 pm #248514Add Chip Caray to the list of Burleson admirers. He praised Burly highly as a fast ball hitter. It’s looking like Burleson is not a fit to start for the Cardinals when everybody’s available. I kind of hope Burleson is traded to a team with a hitter’s friendly ballpark. Like the Cubs. That would help his X base numbers.
April 17, 2024 at 6:27 pm #248515“It’s looking like Burleson is not a fit to start for the Cardinals when everybody’s available”. Maybe a spot start once in a while. But Burleson is going to be too good of hitter for that kind of role. Especially, as young as he still is. A team with astute scouts will likely see that. The Cardinals should be able to get a decent prospect for Burleson.
April 17, 2024 at 7:17 pm #248521bccran, I wasn’t responding to you, we both posted at the same time.

MrperkinsParticipantWowza! I hadn’t read this thread in a while and I missed a lot. But in carefully reading I think I reached a conclusion: Shady is the one and only DesiFan from years ago with a new fave! That guy was bonkers
April 17, 2024 at 7:31 pm #248523Mrperkins, what do you think of Burleson’s potential as a hitter?
April 17, 2024 at 8:20 pm #248531bccran
ParticipantThank you, BB.
April 17, 2024 at 10:55 pm #248535Sometimes we all need to agree…. Scott needed AAA time and Contreras will be the starting 1B next year.
April 18, 2024 at 6:28 am #248546wow the redbirds could sure use burleson’s bat in the lineup
April 18, 2024 at 7:24 am #248554bccran
ParticipantIsn’t 1B up for grabs next year between Walker, Gorman, and Contreras?
April 18, 2024 at 8:22 am #248557Burleson is the victim of horrid roster construction and overrated walker and noot
April 18, 2024 at 9:28 am #248566^^^^^
Who knows what Walker will be?
He’s a 21 year-old with 470 career ABs and a respectable .761 OPS.
April 18, 2024 at 10:26 am #248570What a thread.
