Whew, finally!
May 12, 2024 at 3:56 pm #252036That might have been the best game of the season to date. Not saying much but they played better and with some emotion. It will be interesting to see if they can repeat it.

jj-cf-stlParticipantWe exploded for four runs and our pitching didn’t.
Game Ball to Siani
Hat-tip JoJoMay 12, 2024 at 4:22 pm #252040Semi hat tip to Goldy. Two hits with a homer. His first decent game of the month.
I would play Siani everyday for awhile. What do we have to lose?
May 12, 2024 at 4:29 pm #252043Oli’s best use might be to get himself ejected every day. It might fire up the team.
May 12, 2024 at 5:41 pm #252045I would also install Siani as the regular center fielder versus righties. And I would work with him to bunt for hits two or three times a week. He might hit .275 if he could get a bunt hit or two a month.
May 12, 2024 at 6:04 pm #252047The W today enables the Cardinals to avoid the double digit deficit in the standings which is some solace. And yeah, Carlson’s 0 for 2024 and hasn’t even reached base since being activated, so play Siani in CF while he’s swinging the bat. In any event, it somehow seems like a genuine achievement to evade a 10 game deficit in the NLC standings before traveling west. The standards are set pretty low these days.
May 12, 2024 at 9:38 pm #252051What would be better is if he got ejected from the organization.
May 13, 2024 at 8:31 am #252063I’m intrigued by Siani. Is he:
A) The type who the more he plays, the better he’ll hit?
Or
B) The type you don’t overexpose at the plate as teams will figure him out?
As a guy who appreciates the value of speed & defense, I really love his speed & defense. I would also agree that he needs to be laying down at least one bunt per game. He’ll beat some out, but that keeps the infield drawn in as well.
May 13, 2024 at 9:47 am #252068If looking for some bright spots on the season. In addition to Winn. Both Siani and Burleson seem to be making strides as MLB players.

I’ve seen nothing new from Burleson. He’s still a below average hitter. Period. That cannot be reasonably disputed.
He has a .686 OPS and a 96 OPS+ on tge season. Below average. Nothing new. He’s drawn a grand total of 5 walks in 103 PA’s. Pathetic. His Slugg%, the one thing he’s supposed to excel at is a comical .392. Last season it was .390.
Keep pimping him, but at the end of the day, he’s a poor man’s Roger Freed or Joe Hague. Two immortal Redbirds!
May 13, 2024 at 11:42 am #252074AdM, in case you haven’t noticed, Recently, Burleson has been batting cleanup and 5th for an MLB team. Somebody with some professional baseball credentials must feel he’s a hitting threat. You seem to be in denial. No biggie. lol

What a joke!
Yeah…someone is batting him in key spots. Of course, that someone is the manager of a cruddy, last place team that also finished last during last season.
Shady, this is that tough…the seeetest smelling turd in a big pile of turds, is still a turd! And that’s what your beloved Burly is. A turd.

ParticipantIn case you haven’t noticed, the Cardinals are 28th in BA, 27th in OBP, 29th in SLG, 28th in OPS, 28th in wRC, and 29th in Runs/Game. And they are still shorthanded in the OF. You seem to be in denial. No biggie. lol

Facts. We present facts and are told we’re the ones in denial!
