We all just say the same thing over and over in different ways! To me it boils down to the fact that our FO has failed miserably at
    Player evaluation
    Player development
It is an organizational failure and to fix it we need a totally new organizational direction with better people! Since the group left for Houston we have been on a steady downward spiral!

Yep, this management group has not done a good job the last 5 years or so. They did okay before that though, and there is the old saying “careful what you wish for.” No guarantees anyone else would be better. But I would like to see a more seasoned manager at the helm and it’s probably time to make a change from Mozeliak.

Whenever I get to feeling bad about the Cardinals trading Alcantara and Gallen, I like to think about the Braves trading wainwright.

In trying to name some positives in Marmol as a manager. Close to the top of the list would be the way he stuck with Burleson. I’m not sure every manager would have given Burleson so many chances. Right now, that loyalty appears to be paying off for Marmol, Burleson and the Cardinals. It may have helped fix a stagnant offense.

I can’t see that he had a choice, Shady. I view it as a default setting.

From the MLB Trade Rumors piece:

As Geoff Pontes of Baseball America wrote in a 2022 interview with the right-hander, “the Cardinals coveted Loutos as much for his potential fit as a front office candidate as they did for his skill as a baseball player.” Loutos is a computer science major who has already been working with the Cardinals’ analytics department.

A wonk in the pen should help.

Loutos interned with Rapsodo while in college. He did an interview with BA in 2022 and discussed his background in detail. I also interviewed him in the AFL but didn’t go into great detail on analytics.

Couldn’t agree less. Doubt Marmol makes any personnel decisions. We’ve covered that previously when you thought theanager decided who to put on the roster out of spring training.

There’s a difference in fans being frustrated and revenue dollars clearly flying out the door. It feels like the end is near. It’s hard to get fans back once they’re done. DeWitt knows that.

BOCfan, a few weeks ago, weren’t you wanting Burleson sent down to Memphis? Are you feeling a little better now about Burleson as an MLB player? Or are you still skeptical?

Burleson = the most over-expectation player on the team. I think he’ll only get better with the confidence that he is showing. Runner-ups = Winn – Helsley – Herrera.

So far this season the under-expectation list is too long to even mention. They all need to pick it up because as a whole the rotation isn’t going to get it done. But we all knew that was coming.

    Just relish every win.

Interesting quote about veteran leadership on the Royals from Wacha and Lugo.

“If you watch any of [the Royals’] starters, when they come out of a game, the four other starters huddle around and break down the game with him,” an AL executive observed. “That’s all Lugo and Wacha. They have created this culture. The way they have changed the culture there is mind-boggling.”

Yeah, the Royals are 11 games over even and only 1.5 back in the ALC. However, I’m not sure any new sort of culture has been created out in the western portion of the state. In my estimation, KC’s always symbolized a small market AL team that is dedicated to winning.

I don’t know, BOC, the way Burleson is ripping the baseball with that LH’ed swing of his, they may start referring to him as the “Portly Splinter”…Haha!

If the Cards want to make a serious run at the division, they need to quit being so fragile with Helsley. He could have and should have pitched the 9th in the second game today with a day off tomorrow. It dang near cost them another game today. It’s kind of ridiculous.

You know this how? Was it a conversation you had with Helsley or Card’s trainer? Possibly you’re a Doctor who has examined the Cardinal flamethrower? Maybe you were in the bullpen watching him throw?

I think with your apparent inside knowledge you should’ve contacted DD and let him know it was okay to send RH out for a second relief appearance after his save earlier in the day!

At one point this season he was projected to appear in 90 games. He was being used a lot. He has never topped 60 games in a season. Now I don’t know what the projections are now for him( he’s had some inactivity at times in May) but it appears he’ll top IP and and appearances this year.

Helsley coming out twice? Ha. That’s a good one. We have lineup ‘regulars’ regularly sitting out to ‘rest’ early in the season. Starters taking themselves out of games in the 6th. Its powder puff baseball. But there is no denying it is working, for now at least. They just took down a good team. Maybe it will hold up through the dog days, I don’t know. We will see.

Winn, Walker, Gorman, Herrera, Donovan, Carlson, Siani, Nootbaar, Scott, Baker, Saggese, etc. are all fine young players. When they hit their stride this is going to be a fun team to watch.

bccran, Burleson may end up being the best all-around hitter in the Cardinals organization in the next few years. And Prieto has been an outstanding hitter at Memphis.

AdM, I have about as much “inside knowledge” regarding the Cardinals as you do about me being somebody else.
