If you look at the 8 teams left they 1 and 2 starters are all better than anyone we have! You can look it up! I agree our starters pitched well but with a staff who starts a number 3 for any other of the contenders I just don’t see it happening! If we traded for a Bieber and if Flaherty returned to form we would have a 1 and 2 that could compete with the 8 teams left but those are huge if’s! The last 2 times we have won it we had Carpenter who was a great number 1! We don’t have anyone close to his level right now IMO! But as 1toughD said out starters didn’t lose this series and he is 100% correct! We have other issues like huge holes at SS and Catcher and an outfield with way more potential than productivity but the 8 teams left have holes in their lineups also! They all possess vastly superior starters at the top of their rotations!
Several of you have listed our starting 5 for next year and if your right out ceiling is what we just saw! We can’t and won’t compete for a championship with that starting 5, period! We might win a weak division get a three seed and get crushed by a 6 seed with 2 quality starters way better than ours! I’ve seen that movie already! We need to improve to win but as someone already said the people in power are okay watching this movie over and over because they keep filling seats and making money! It makes it hard to get pumped up about 2023!

October 8, 2022 at 11:02 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 2 thread – Saturday, October 8 vs. Phillies #203990Goldschmidt and Arenado gave us nothing but strike outs and sad looks! Looks like they were taking advice from Dejong! The truth is colhusler said it! This team is nowhere near good enough to contend! So weak at SS and catcher and no clear 1 or 2 starter! Unless serious money is spent and it won’t be we can look forward to contending in the central and editing early when we play quality teams in the playoffs! This model works for Mo and Bill because tons of people come and they make lots of money without having to spend as much as many teams!
October 8, 2022 at 7:57 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 2 thread – Saturday, October 8 vs. Phillies #203857Great time for Goldschmidt to go stone cold! Taking pitches right down the middle like he has no clue what to do! We gotta have something from Pujols Goldschmidt or Arenado are we have no chance

October 7, 2022 at 9:19 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #2037671toughD, yes, yes and yes! Our bullpen has been mismanaged since nice 2012 IMO and we keep getting beat at the end of games! Perhaps they are just not as good as the opponents but they have failed repeatedly to close things out when it counted and I for sure think manager decisions have had a big part in that! The only thing we could count on all year is Helsley and I truly believe he was nowhere near 100% today! No way he should have been put out there for more than an inning and left in way too long when things went wrong! We can’t win a championship with an average bullpen being mismanaged! Ain’t gonna happen!
October 7, 2022 at 8:59 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203764In our last three playoff games
One in 2020 one in 2021 and today our starters have pitched 16 2/3 innings and allowed 2 ER and we have lost all 3 games! We have an ongoing bullpen problem, period! We are near the bottom of the teams in playoffs in bullpen Era and in today’s game it really doesn’t matter how good your starters are if your bullpen fails again and again as proven by the stat aboveOctober 7, 2022 at 5:05 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203730The mistakes made with the bullpen have been going on all year! Many here have pointed them out! OM does NOT do a good job making those decisions! We were spoiled with TLR and now you see how the other half lives!
October 7, 2022 at 4:29 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203713And now we have Dejong up really needing a hit! Ow that is quality maneuvering
October 7, 2022 at 4:28 pm in reply to: 2022 Wild Card Series Game 1 thread – Friday, October 7 vs. Phillies #203712For a team implode like this when it really matters is depressing! But we can still win this series! Our bullpen MUST stop walking people with small leads! We have done it all year and it just leads to disasters like today

October 3, 2022 at 7:31 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 160 thread – Monday, October 3 at Bucs #203183If they let him play the next 2 games he will be below 143! Thanks for finding that! Great stuff! I mean at this point the pitchers just throw it right down the middle and he just wails away! Worst I have ever seen, and he is still playing!
October 3, 2022 at 7:26 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 160 thread – Monday, October 3 at Bucs #2031791toughd, I am so frustrated by it! There just is no reasonable explanation for it! I’m convinced if he is on the roster they will start him! He has to have pictures of DeWitt or Mo that he is blackmailing them!
October 3, 2022 at 7:17 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 160 thread – Monday, October 3 at Bucs #203176I will just never understand why we continue to let Paul Dejong bat! It is just ridiculous! He can’t hit, period! If he plays the next two games his average will be under 140, for the SEASON! Has anyone in baseball history with as many at bats as he has had been that low! I doubt it! If they start him in the playoffs I have lost all respect for these guys! It just makes no sense!
October 2, 2022 at 3:19 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 159 thread – Sunday, October 2 vs. Bucs #203025Starting Wainwright on Friday against the Phillies would be a major mistake! They will hammer him! Mikolas or Montgomery are better options! I prefer Mikolas!
September 29, 2022 at 8:29 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 156 thread – Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Brewers #202791I wish they would bring up Mason Winn, not sure about spelling, and let him have these last 6 games at ss! What could it hurt? Dejong should not be on a playoff roster!! Period! We can use Edman there, Donovan there, and maybe Winn! We as an organization have got to get past Paul Dejong! It is time for this to be over forever!
September 28, 2022 at 10:00 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 156 thread – Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Brewers #2027761tough, I never saw Ueker bat but there is no way he could be worse! Have you ever been to a little league game and watch the kids at the end of the line up? They just swing at the first 3 pitches and go sit down! That is Paul Dejong! He couldn’t hit if they let him use a tee! We have totally destroyed him forever! Don’t see how he makes a playoff roster but if he does and then actually bats I think it may push me over the edge! Lol!
September 28, 2022 at 9:33 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 156 thread – Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Brewers #202769If Paul Dejong bats in the playoffs we have totally lost our minds! I have never seen a worse major league hitter!
September 22, 2022 at 6:34 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 151 thread – Thursday, Sept. 22 at Padres #202010Jack Flaherty actually looked like Jack Flaherty today! Much better! For us to win it all this needs to be his first in a long run of dominant starts! If he could pitch like this in playoffs he and Jordan Montgomery will give us a chance! Waino worries me at this point and Mikolas is hit and miss! We need dominant Flaherty to be a real contender! Today was a decent step in that direction! Finally!
September 22, 2022 at 4:18 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 151 thread – Thursday, Sept. 22 at Padres #201942It concerns me that as we are supposedly getting ready for a playoff run we continue to put people like Dejong and Burleson in the lineup! We need to at least try and have 9 above 200 hitters! Burleson won’t play in playoffs so why play him now! I don’t love Carlson but he is better option especially in the field and he actually hits like 235 which ain’t good but is 70 points above Burleson!
September 22, 2022 at 2:48 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 151 thread – Thursday, Sept. 22 at Padres #201919Not much chance of victory today! Put starter hasn’t won a game all year and is a shell of his former self! We need at least 6 runs to be competitive today! At least Dejong is not in the lineup! I think they should bring up the SS Mason Winn and just see what he could do! No way you can put Dejong on a playoff roster! Total waste of space!
September 21, 2022 at 11:38 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 150 thread – Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Padres #201835Scary bad tonight! This team needs a manager that can fix problems! Let’s see if Marmol is gonna be that guy?
