Read elsewhere that RP Parker down at AAA has an opt out today (or maybe it was last night). Wouldn’t mind switching him out for Whitley right now to see if he has anything left.
May 31, 2022 at 8:52 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 49 thread – Tuesday, May 31 vs. Padres #186719Looking at the gameday chart, Profar had a couple close pitches go against him in the 6th but Machado stuck out looking on a pitch in the zone.
May 24, 2022 at 8:02 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 43 thread – Tuesday, May 24 vs. Blue Jays #186143Two things about the elder Bichette, Puggs. He had surprisingly bad bb/k for the #’s he put up, and don’t let him around your daughters alone.
May 24, 2022 at 7:03 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 43 thread – Tuesday, May 24 vs. Blue Jays #186127I’m just seeing gameday. In Jays 1st inning there was a force at 2nd, then an infield hit to SS. Anyone with eyes on the diamond able to say if there may have been double play on force out play or if Paul would have made the play on the hit if we had our former infield setup?
Edit: Ok, by Pugs account it looks like the defence didn’t play a part
The way I see it is he is so young he can party too much this year, then try to learn the game all next year and having growing pains. Then take 3 years to go A-AAA and he is still only 23-24 if he really has the MLB tools.
May 15, 2022 at 4:20 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 34 thread – Sunday, May 15 vs. Giants #185265Rat–I’m proud to say I actually remembered the year and final score of a truly remarkable game. 1990 New York Yankees win 4-0 despite being no hit
I’m still confidant Matz will get on track. Maybe crazy.
Looks like the farm returning to last year’s form. I check in here hoping for .500 daily win percentage and we haven’t even had that for seems like a week. We need to do an Angels draft–all pitchers. Being in lopsided games can be detrimental to our hitters’ discipline as they just swing for fences for stats.
May 11, 2022 at 9:48 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 30 thread – Wednesday, May 11 vs. Orioles #185010Great win. I was really surprised to see Whitley optioned out myself despite his really bad outing a few days ago. Maybe attitude or not 100% healthy?
Kyle Leahy has posted some terrible numbers the last 2 years. It may be time for him to find a new calling in life.
May 9, 2022 at 12:51 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 29 thread – Tuesday, May 10 vs. Orioles #184806I thought I read that Yepez has fairly neutral splits rh/lh the last couple years but I may have imagined that as my justification for starting him at DH at least 75% of time.
Checking his game logs, has only gone less than 6 innings once this year, his first outing where he went 5 scoreless. Also, has not walked more than 1 in any of his 5 starts.
I’ve been impressed with Zane Mills. Seems like he consistently puts up 5-7 innings of 1-3 run ball. Looks like in his outing last night 2 of his 3 runs came on a hr in the 7th. He may be kind of goofy looking but I like what I see.

April 27, 2022 at 12:01 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 16 thread – Tuesday, April 26 vs. Mets #183601During much of the 20+ years I have posted here, I laid my head down in the small burg of Ava,Mo near the Mo/Ark state line. But to reel in Mrs Perkins I had to pack my bags and head to that hotbed of civilization in SW Missouri,Springfield.

Can you give a summary of the Marmol press conference?April 25, 2022 at 8:43 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Monday, April 25 vs. Mets #183419Pugs, been a few years but I think the storyline was older veteran pitcher that doesn’t have his good stuff anymore…think he plays for Detroit Tigers….hears he may get traded at trading deadline…considering retirement…in between innings he has flashbacks of his life, thinks about mistakes he made with his family…as it goes on he realizes he has a perfect game going in the 6th or so…finds out the owner decided to trade him…he has some tough decisions to make. I won’t give away the ending but it is worth a view. The baseball game looks good, too. The movie guys didn’t screw it up like they usually do.
April 25, 2022 at 8:29 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Monday, April 25 vs. Mets #183409Scherzer poor mans Kevin Costner? He’s pitching like Costner in For the Love of the Game.
April 25, 2022 at 4:36 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Monday, April 25 vs. Mets #183369Power Rangers had Amy Jo Johnson. I could tolerate that. My dinner is probably going to be eating chicken nuggets and green beans the 2 1/2 year old refused to eat and some chocolate ice cream
April 25, 2022 at 3:30 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Monday, April 25 vs. Mets #183367I love the sci-fi from 50’s. Print and reels. Huge fan of Ray Bradbury. Just received a dvd double feature in the mail, William Beaudine’s last directing gig (in 1966). And it looks to be a doozy. The 2 titles are Billy the Kid vs Dracula and Jesse James meets Frankenstein’s Daughter. Having 2 small children means I have à steady stream of Peppa Pig, Bumblenums, and CoCoMelon constantly defiling my TV so I plan to stay up late after the wifey and kids have hit the sack for some peace and cheesy sci-fi.
April 22, 2022 at 11:16 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 12 thread – Friday, April 22 at Reds #183096This is one of the few games I actually got to watch. Didn’t seem like ball traveling at all. Matz making my prediction of being glad we “had” to add 4th year look good. He already has ERA almost fixed after that disaster vs Pirates. Looks like the smart way to attack him is swing early. Helsey really looks nasty. He was a starter a long time ago too….Still not sure I trust Gallegos with the added attention to spin enhancement
April 21, 2022 at 12:06 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 10 thread – Wednesday, April 20 at Marlins #182922The Cardinal prospect Bryan Anderson was a 4th rd pick and a lot of people saw his lh bat as a compliment to Molina. He hit fairly consistantly but I don’t think he was well regarded behind the plate. In 2010 when he was prob at apex of prospect status, Jason LaRue had the backup job with the big club. In 2011, it was Gerald Laird and Tony Cruz. Anderson eventually aged out and signed FA deal with White Sox but never amounted to much.
April 19, 2022 at 11:36 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 9 thread – Tuesday, April 19 at Marlins #182776Seems like we faced Luzardo in spring training and he threw well. In his last start he K’d 12 vs only 1 run so he may have figured something out.
Haven’t seen any MLB stats for Carlos Martinez of the Giants so far this year. Any word on if he is throwing?
April 17, 2022 at 11:45 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 8 thread – Sunday, April 17 at Brewers #182641Ok, so is there a story to Molina missing time or are they really going with a time share?
