Is Tim Cooney done? I know a shoulder injury is major but just wondering if he plans on trying to return or if he has gone the way of John gast?

Still so young. Mercado looked horrible after his first 2 years. I’d like to think Perez could have such a resurgence.Kelly at #6. Defence at a catcher trumps offense and Molina didn’t develop much offensively his first few seasons. I like Kizner but I remember being excited over Brian Anderson…I think that was his name. Kelly’s defence now could keep him in the league 10+ years.
Martinez looked like he was way out of whack. Hard to get a close call when you look out of control.

Yes, I think the front office and anyone with any common sense expected mujica as nothing more than veteran AAA arm only appearing if he was lights out. If you have to feature this signing as evidence of the FO’s foolishness you are showing your own. The FO has made mistakes, but piling on with this crap is showing nothing but vitriol.We have great young outfield talent at AAA but that depth chart at Springfield is not inspiring. Would love to see Carlson make a move, though he would have to make it through the tough on hitting league Palm Beach plays in. Hoping to see Plummer, Denton, or even my favorite named fellow Murders figure it out and get to AA before season’s end. This outfield of Thomas, Spitz, and Roache is unexciting to say the least. Was aiming for 20-30 games attended this year but may save it for Woodford/Helsey starts. Helsey was consistently at 95 by the gun on the game I was at last week.
Helsey was hanging around 94-95 with the heat. There were a LOT of hot girls in attendance. Knizner looked solid each time I saw him (I missed an AB to get $1 brat). Edman at 3rd????
I can’t believe Wong didn’t try to bunt for a hit the way they had the shift on him and the potential throwing difficulty with the 37 degree weather. After that opening I was amazed Wacha got through 5 allowing just 2 runs. Hicks first run allowed was unearned, with a runner aboard due to Carp’s clown act at 3rd. Next man looked to be out looking but home plate ump, who had an ATROCIOUS game, didn’t give it to him. He got out of the jam with limited damage. Really looked like Ozuna got a bad break/didn’t see the single that scored the DB run that inning. Oh, and why not mayars in the 6th up 5-2???? I guess insurance if Weaver falters, but come on!

Agreed. No way you put a guy who can’t draw a walk in front of Stanton. Ideally the first 3 should be Carp , Pham, Stanton, and Fowler. We’d all prefer Fowler leading off if Carp could perform lower in the order but I like having Carps high ob% leading off and a switch hitter behind Stanton for a little protection. I think the top of the lineup would be good for giving our young pitchers a lot of early leads. Molina 5th, then the random array of Martinez/Gyorko, Dejong, and Gyorko/Wong that Matheny patches together. I really hope Piscotty’s personal issue is what caused his bad year. Martinez seems to have earned a spot so I don’t think you can keep Grichuk and Piscotty unless the dreaded Pham injury strikes early in spring training. I’d really like to see Piscotty get time at first and get what we can for Gyorko while his contract still has positive value.
I’d be fine with them letting Tui try it out. Spend the money saved on a bat. Is there any possibility Reyes goes to the bullpen to safeguard his arm for the time being? That could be another closer option. I just hate to see the cards spend elite money on one of the flukiest roles on the team who is likely only going to give you 70 innings. In my opinion closers should be groomed rather than overpaying for them on the open market.
