Flaherty doesn’t look like he is nibbling. He is just flat out missing his targets. Hoping he loosens up as it warms up.April 18, 2021 at 7:11 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Sun, April 18 at Phillies #158541
I do not like Gant or Ponce in the rotation either. At least Gant has value in the pen. Even when Gant and Ponce are “efficient” they are nearing 100 pitches in 5 innings.April 18, 2021 at 2:37 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Sun, April 18 at Phillies #158506
Finally get to watch a game for first time this year and this is the stinker I’m treated to.April 18, 2021 at 2:35 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Sun, April 18 at Phillies #158505
It hasn’t helped that Nola is now getting 2 inches off the plate on both sides. That pitch to Molina wasn’t close.April 18, 2021 at 10:24 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 15 thread – Sun, April 18 at Phillies #158464
Williams line the last week or so must be fairly nice to get him above .200 after that horrible start. Hoping he is over the jitters. If he put it all together he could be Heyward lite with the funky swing but without elite defence.
Wow. I understand bagging on Bader’s hitting issues but he is an excellent center fielder. He passes the eye test and all the metrics. Don’t let your disdain for him cloud the things he does that are positive. It’s almost like you are just trying to pick a fight.April 17, 2021 at 8:51 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 13 thread – Friday, April 16 at Phillies #158361
I, for one, also appreciated the Holmes reference Puggs and Rat. As for describing those who continued to watch as AAA fans, they may soon find themselves in AA. Needing a sponser. I hear that Hurst got a hearty boo for his debut. Those Philly fans…always keeping it classy.April 14, 2021 at 7:03 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 11 thread – Tue, April 13 vs. Nats #158084
On Strasburg, there is article on Mlb.com where he is upset that tunnel cameras showed him massaging neck/shoulder area when he thought he was in privacy. They list more info about his velocity drop as well.April 11, 2021 at 3:34 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 9 thread – Sunday, April 11 vs. Brewers #157809
I saw some mention earlier of Oviedo not pitching much this spring. I saw it mentioned by someone in another thread that he DID get normal work , but it was on back fields or “B” games. So he should be plenty stretched out.April 11, 2021 at 11:35 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 9 thread – Sunday, April 11 vs. Brewers #157719
I’d switch Dean and DeJong. Knizner has to start considering calling Jeff Gillooly
Just saw that. Anyone know if that saves us any money via insurance?April 9, 2021 at 1:06 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 7 thread – Thu, April 8 vs. Brewers (Home Opener) #157510
Muddled would be a compliment for describing Shannon on KMOX. The little attempt at humor about captain hook that made absolutely no sense just left the other announcer speechless. I think best case scenario is to have him tip back a few frosty ones and let instinct take over. Sober addled Shannon is just confusing. I was hoping Goldy would hit for O’Neal in the big at bat, glad it turned out how it did. I think Gallegos is the stabilizing force in the pen. How he goes this year will go a long way toward the team contending.
A knee jerk reaction like suddenly hundreds of bills to change voting rules when there has been no provable fraud aside from a couple single incidents? Would these have been passed had Mr Trump won?
Triple, I was hoping someone would catch the moon reference with my avatar lol.April 6, 2021 at 4:40 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 5 thread – Tuesday, April 6 at Marlins #157170
If Ponce was efficient in throwing almost 100 pitches in 5 innings of 1 run ball….well I’ll just say I disagree with that depiction.
It’s funny how much extreme overreaction there is to this. I thought this was a peaceful way to protest. I suppose all protests should occur 30 years from now on the moon so they don’t inconvenience anyone.April 6, 2021 at 2:55 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 5 thread – Tuesday, April 6 at Marlins #157151
Well, I don’t see how Carpenter could give us less than Williams/Dean have.
They are only bringing up the issue of fraudulent votes now because Mr Trump lost. He has been laying the foundation of claims for over a year before the election. Mail in voting in Georgia was pushed and passed by Republicans because they thought it would help them win bigger. Now that it doesn’t anymore they are trying to change the laws before they get voted out.
Baseball is a great way to teach lessons outside the white lines. Look at the legacy of Jackie Robinson. Should baseball have just stayed out of it and left things how they were?
Very well said, 25.
Maybe if anyone could PROVE there was voter fraud I would agree. All sorts of restrictions are being put up under the guise of security, simply because one side is upset about losing. Put forth better candidates. Don’t try to limit voters.
To me this seems like a good move. An industry chooses a peaceful way to state an opinion/objection in a way that draws attention to a subject for discussion. They aren’t doing it in a way that can be twisted to say they are being disrespectful to a flag, our veterans, or the country as a whole.March 31, 2021 at 9:05 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 1 thread – Thu 4/1 at Reds #156697
Sunkist does make a fine orange soda but I miss “Thirsty? Just Whistle!” from my childhood. Minute Maid put out a pretty good orange soda in late 80’s/early 90’s. Fanta never impressed me much.March 31, 2021 at 1:53 pm in reply to: Make Your BOLD Predictions for the 2021 Cardinals HERE #156654
Flaherty has another blah first half, then dominates during second half but can’t get to 20 or under 3.0 era
Carpenter has a “serious” back issue that puts him on DL near start of May. Mo keeps saying he’ll be back in 6 weeks but no go.
Nolan plays great defense, hits .260 and 25 HR.
Goldschmidt come on with .290, 25hr.
Edman hits .270 but steals 30 bases
Carlson ends up at .270, 15. Explodes following year.
Cards make it to postseason at 86-76 but don’t advance.
O’Neil at .235 at leads team with 27 dongs.
Molina has 2 stays on DL.
Was Rene Arocha Cuban? I want to say yes.
