If I am Mo, I call up Philly and try Goldy and Contreras for Mick Abel. Really I just want to dump Contreras contract and it is worth it to clear Goldy’s contract and get Walker learning the 1st base job during a lost year. But I salivated over Abel during his draft year and would love to get him as he is overshadowed by Painter right now and had an injury early in his career. Philly gets a replacement for injured Hoskins this year and adds a couple big bats for their hopes to reclaim the pennant. Then I reveal my deepest, darkest, desire of all…replace Mo with Jeff “Who says you can’t go home” Luhnow. Ok, I’ll put my video game controller down now.
I haven’t been in this situation since the early 90’s but I am now actively hoping the Cardinals lose. I hope each game is close and hinges on a key boner by someone not in long term plans like DeJong but I am ready to see guys moved out and the best possible draft pick. So bring on the stinker starts by Wainwright. Let VerHagen blow up a couple 5 run messes. Maybe it will finally convince BDW to pull the trigger on Marmol. I have been a more loyal supporter of Mo than many but it is time to go.
I don’t know about all that but Rat, you may want to pick up Amazon Prime streaming. Right now they have the complete series of Barnaby Jones and seasons 1-7 of Mannix. We might not see you post for a week!
Springfield Cardinals have a hat promotion on Thurs May 25th. Really a beautiful hat. Shelled out 50$ for the ticket to the game for the hat despite not being able to attend due to kids T-ball game. If someone wants 1 free ticket get back to me here.
I just find it very interesting that they are choosing to bring Contreras back to catching just in time for Flaherty start, considering he was supposedly one who was vocal about criticizing Willson’s prep work back there. Wonder if it is a message to Jack to put up or shut up
I missed the whole game/day as the focus was on Mrs Perkins as I work a 12hr shift today and my phone was left lonely on the nightstand all day. Really pleased to read these results and look forward to watching the 9th inning Contreras at bat. MLB had this as a free game so I can fast forward to all (both?) the highlights

I think I heard on the Cubs Marlins game that the Marlins were something like 11-0 this year in one run games. I’d say we tethered to the wrong horse
These games are hard to even follow. Hopefully they can start anew with May starting. All we seem to be lacking in a season ending injury to a pitcher. Almost expecting it from Helsey
I think I am the only one loving this appletv broadcast. This is the first game I’ve gotten to watch live all year!
I understood Motter when we didn’t have DeJong as excellent IF defense but now you can let Donovan move around into defensive alignments as well. As long as DeJong has a pulse he has more of a history than Motter. And real defensive value. DeJong at 0.0-1WAR would be fantastic if it happens. I trust DeJong to get back to 0 WAR more than I trust Motter to get to it.
I’m ok with Motter being on the bench as long as he isn’t starting or PH. We have enough talent on hand that Motter should be last string/pinch runner/injury replacement
Just win some games guys. We are like parents who hate being mad at the kids. We know you can do it, just do it please.
Oh, and I hated the Contreras deal from the outset. You knew a defensive team would suffer from him being at the keystone position. Sure he can throw some guys out but his pitch calling/blocking/framing are atrocious and it undermines his fiery demeanor. Obviously Murphy was best target and now Donovan doesn’t look so untouchable but we didn’t know Gorman would step up like he has so far.
Wow. This is getting bad. We need Alec Baldwin from Glengary Glen Ross to do a motivational speech. I think we all agree that Marmol has been out of his element worse than Donnie in The Big Lebowski. Ok, enough fantastic 90’s movies references. If not Marmol, who? I don’t think we would do the Maddon thing (I hope) and we fired probably the best guy for this spot (Shildt). Walker needed to be sent down as horrible defense is the last thing we need in this slide. Start Carlson more than Burleson (for reasons just stated) and buckle down and hope for positive results from Mikolos, Flaherty, Monty, and wainwright making a positive influence upon return. Out of everyone here, I think I was the biggest proponent of signing Matz and even celebrated when it was for 4 years rather than 3. All I can say is sorry guys. The Toronto mojo from Rasmus trade that allowed us to make our magical run punched us with Cecil and may have KO’d us on Matz’s deal.
I agree with sending Walker down, but couldn’t we have had Yepez back up instead of Motter??? If I see Motter pinch hit for Burleson I may flip out.
I enjoy the classic games Appletv has in their collection. Lots of stuff like Randy Johnson 20k games from 80’s, 90’s and up to now.

I am really excited about Jordan Walker’s future but I don’t understand why he isn’t getting an occasional day off. You have AB’s needed for all the outfielders and Walker’s negative WAR, bad defense, and terrible BB/k rate should not be rewarded with constant play if you are trying to push the narrative that competition and positive play earn you playing time. Watching a game or 2 from the dugout wouldn’t be the worst thing for him or the team.
No, we don’t want him to PULL out of it. We want him to hit it back up the damn middle or opposite field like he had been lol. He can dump his new approach into left center like a humpback liner
I know I am not the only person who viewed Donovan’s “reshaping body and swing” with trepidation. Early results are lower BA, much worse bb/k rate, and a few more HR. While that might be a positive on a bad offensive team that needs a few HR to score, we need someone to keep the line moving and make the pitcher work. Off course that approach doesn’t pay off when it comes to arbitration. I’d love to see the Cards sign him through arbitration and 2 extra years and tell him that they love the 2022 Donovan
After reading the story on ESPN, sounds like normal frustration boiling over. A few wins ought to put this to bed
