Yeah, gscottar, we’ll pick up ground on the first 2 teams we have to leapfrog on the way to the 12th Redbird WS Championship…

Euro, you’re right, the Umpires are getting worse.. Do you think they make them watch relays of all their bad calls? Do they make them get vision tests?

That’s another good point concerning a raucous capacity crowd, Euro. It’ll definitely sway the ball/strike calls and I don’t think the HPU even realizes when it’s taking place. Probably pretty much a subconscious type thing.

It took 41 games, but this is the first time I’ve seen the Cardinal team i was expecting. Pitched well, hit very well and defended well.

I’m not sure any other sport affords as many opportunities as baseball does to have a conversation regarding the inner mechanisms of the human mind…Haha!

Swept the Red Sox. It’s just a rumour but the Sox are considering pulling up stakes and moving West to Mexico City

We just had a 5-1 road trip. I don’t think anyone saw that coming. I hate to be superstitious but should we really move Contreras back to catcher tomorrow? lol

I’ll be darned, Jnevel. I sure wouldn’t have realized that unless you mentioned it. At any rate, Miles sure worked well enough to be the winning pitcher of decision. If any Cardinal SP’er deserves the first May W, it’s him.

Was it indicted or confirmed they were going to do that on Monday vs. MIL, gscottar?

    Well that’s 3 W’s in a row. Now, we have a stretch of 16 more games…In a row.

1td, from what I have read Contreras will be back behind the dish tomorrow night.

Oh okay, gscottar. Thanks for the tip. I thought they may have mentioned it during tonight’s telecast and I missed it due to having the sound muted for most of the game. At any rate, I’m with you in regards to not touching any buttons or levers as long as they’re winning…Haha!

I heard about Contreras not catching / catching again on the ESPN broadcast. No surprise that much of the discussion did not shine a favorable light on the Birds. They had a big graphic of Mo and his quote on why they took the mitt away from Willy. Oli too. They described the whole situation as something you just don’t see. They didn’t let the pitchers slide either. Said Willy’s pitch framing isn’t the problem and the pitchers need to grow a pair now that Yadi is gone.

Here’s an article article discussing the Contreras return.

Like a broken record. Don’t get it all back at once. Win series and the rest will take care of itself.

Too much talent on this team to not have some pride and play better.

At 9 games under .500 I’d have to say I’d be real happy to have chance to start from scratch at the .500 mark at some point during the second week of June. That new lease on life would require the Redbirds to compile at least a 17-8 W/L record in their next 25 games. Obviously not an easy task, but certainly not unheard of. At any rate, if they can somehow come close to securing that accomplishment, I’ll like their chances in the next three and a half months to repeat as the NLC winners. They obviously have some weaknesses that need to be addressed and sorted, but I continue to believe that they’re the best team in their division.

I agree, booyah. In my view, the talent on this team outclasses the rest of the NLC. Just have to spin it up and put it into motion.

Certain members of the rotation and of management seem to have come away from catchergate having established their own lack of a spine and other anatomical components.

Willson seems like he will come away from it having established his own professionalism and stout character.

We have seen that these guys can play a little bit and that OliMo can manage a little bit. And Kniz showed that he can hit a little bit.

I just find it very interesting that they are choosing to bring Contreras back to catching just in time for Flaherty start, considering he was supposedly one who was vocal about criticizing Willson’s prep work back there. Wonder if it is a message to Jack to put up or shut up
