Someone brought up the possibility of the Redbird manager being placed in the soup line before season’s end

In my mind’s eye, I imagine Mo having a barrel of monkeys delivered to Oli’s office and then firing him for having monkeys in his office.

Donovan, Walker, and Gorman are tied for second place in strikeouts right now with 7 so far. The team leader is O’Neill with 9.

I’d say that a relatively focused mind’s eye has the ability to imagine a picture that’s near to the genuine reality. Especially when monkeys enter the picture…Haha!

Gorman is off to a hot start, exactly like last season.

Maybe we can be like the 2015 Cubs…s l o w start with a torrid finish?

The big difference in Gorman is that his 2022 hot start was in Triple-A. Perhaps time to give him some credit for improvements made.

I was talking about May and into June after he came up and before he fizzled. Maybe this season will be different. Time will tell.

I know I am not the only person who viewed Donovan’s “reshaping body and swing” with trepidation. Early results are lower BA, much worse bb/k rate, and a few more HR. While that might be a positive on a bad offensive team that needs a few HR to score, we need someone to keep the line moving and make the pitcher work. Off course that approach doesn’t pay off when it comes to arbitration. I’d love to see the Cards sign him through arbitration and 2 extra years and tell him that they love the 2022 Donovan

I hear you Mr. P. I Was horrified when I heard Donovan talking about his offseasons swing optimization project. Let’s hope he pulls out of it.

No, we don’t want him to PULL out of it. We want him to hit it back up the damn middle or opposite field like he had been lol. He can dump his new approach into left center like a humpback liner

No way in heck I am trading Gorman unless it is for Alcantara or someone of that ilk. You trade Gorman for some middle of the rotation pitcher then watch him go on an absolute terror with the bat, the Arozarena gnashing of teeth will look like child play.

If this bad start turns into a bad season do we think a lot of it will be on Marmol?

Well it is possible since someone has to be the fall guy but I would be surprised if he is fired this year. The Cardinals have been an organization that prided themselves on managerial stability. We had three full time managers from 1980-2011. Three! We are already on our third manager since 2011 so you think we are about to make it four? Hmmmm, I don’t know about that.

Of course from 1980-2011 we had three veteran HOF managers. Since 2011 we have had three rookie neophytes. It makes a difference doesn’t it? If it had been up to me our manager since 2011 would have been Terry Francona. It is my recollection that we actually interviewed him in 2011 when TLR left but passed him over. Good grief.

I re watched the game from Sunday, and noted that Woodford actually pitched very good.. If we have an average Left Fielder in the game, that fly ball gets caught and the 2 runs do not score. Woodford easily could have finished 5 inngs, with a 1-1 tie.! Lars being hurt probably cost us this one. Burly should be used very sparingly, mostly as occasional DH.

I love Gorman and sure don’t want to lose him! Hitting and hitting potential is not our problem! Pitching and defense is! We did absolutely nothing in the off season to strengthen our pitching staff! Most saw that staff as a weakness and in the first 10 games is any indication most were correct! I was brought up being told you win with pitching and defense and I believe it is true! Someone or some group is going to have to be sacrificed for pitching! My choices would be O’Neill and Edman or Donovan because moving the proven middle infielder will get us more and open up a spot for Gorman or Masyn Winn! The bottom line is the pitching is bad and IMO can’t be fixed by picking up a number 4 and 5 starter at the trade deadline! We are gonna have to package a good group of hitters to fix out pitching issues!

Why not make your post all in caps? Might have actually made it easier to read.

If you’re looking for a top end starter you are wasting your time talking slick fielding middle infielders with get on base skills. You need to dangle middle of the order power potential or someone else will.
