Absolutely on pen. Haven’t posted in a long time due to life circumstances but it’s disappointing. Biggest thing to note is cheeping out on stopgap managers over and over. I fear the Dewitt’s might have killed the culture I grew up knowing
Oli can’t press the right buttons but why should he be able to. He’s under the microscope immediately and was way underprepared to manage the cards. Tony to matheny to Schildt to oli. It’s saving money in the wrong place. Who knows but it seems like the culture has gradually faded. It stinks
I hope someone screenshots this and I’m completely wrong though. You let a culture fade too long and it doesn’t come back. Ask Indiana basketball
It would have been really easy to call this a win for us before O’Neill’s struggles this year. I have confidence that Tyler comes back from IL ready to go, so I think it’s hard to say we lost this trade.
Gotta think Gomez will be getting the promo to AAA soon. What a start for him!
I know we’ve seen this before from a non-prospect. But he’s 23 so one can hope!!
April 26, 2022 at 7:51 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 16 thread – Tuesday, April 26 vs. Mets #183526Wouldn’t hurt as much if we didn’t make the mental mistakes that cost us last night. A lot of game to play though. These bats are ready to turn it around. I feel it
(looking at hitting across the major leagues I don’t think many bats are ready to turn it around. But ours are)
Bring in the guy that you pulled from closer role with season on the line. Schildt should never manage another game in the major leagues
Yeah I’m worried it could get blown open here
WE need to jump on Scherzer early if we want to have a shot on the road. An early lead and a few scoreless frames from Waino could make them tighten up.
Tough to predict a win over Scherzer and the Dodgers but got to believe
September 30, 2021 at 4:10 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 159 thread – Thursday, September 30 vs. Brewers #173980Couldnt watch today but saw we got the win. Would love to see full lineup go most of weekend so we don’t lose the fire. I completely understand each regular taking a day off after locking up playoff spot though
September 21, 2021 at 10:10 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 150 thread – Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Brewers #173091I’m mentally emotionally and even physically exhausted. Great W. Magic number at 8
September 21, 2021 at 9:57 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 150 thread – Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Brewers #173071Getting too interesting. I remember when we used to play a lot more of these games (where i cared this much and the save never came easy)
September 21, 2021 at 9:42 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 150 thread – Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Brewers #173064Would be great to see Garcia get two days off after this. Good job to limit the damage there
September 21, 2021 at 4:51 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #172982I agree Gscott. I love Seager but the injuries are way too much risk. I don’t really like Story either. I would love Semien if the market for him fell because of the other FA’s and he could be had on a 5/30 or 4/60 type deal. With his OPS at 884 and 41 home runs on the year, he could be a candidate to regress significantly at Busch though
I really don’t know what they should do anymore. I would love to add a starter but the Stromans and Scherzers might be too expensive. I’d love to address the bullpen, but past moves to figure out the bullpen in the offseason really haven’t panned out. If you look across the MLB, bullpen guys just seem to go up and down throughout their careers with the exception of a select few (See Dominic Leone for SF this year for an example of the former)
Really hope they can bring lester back for cheap. Even if he pitches to a 4.5 era he’s still a vet who knows how to eat innings
Will be a make or break type offseason for FO
That road trip never seems to end well for us Rats. It’s very nice to get it out of the way in May or June
September 15, 2021 at 9:08 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 142 thread – Wednesday, September 15 at Mets #172590Who is this team? Just hitting the ball against the shift like it’s nothing. It almost looks like half the field is open when you do that!
Very encouraging season from Gorman. I think the most encouraging thing is how he’s cut his K rate to under 20% so far in AAA
Walker seems to have tapped back into his power after adjusting to High-A as well
September 15, 2021 at 2:17 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 141 thread – Tuesday, September 14 at Mets #172530You’re right on both accounts GScott. I think the frustration started when Yadi dropped the foul tip, and Ponce has to be stronger than that mentally. Instead of getting the man out, he walked him and walked two more after that batter
25 – I think it’s dumb for anyone to question Goldy early season again. I know most on this forum didn’t but he really hasn’t put up a bad season for us. Even 2019 wasn’t that bad. His numbers were obviously going to take some kind of hit coming from Chase to Busch, but he’s been great overall. He’s always been a slow starter too. I’d like to think his approach/swing isn’t one that leads to a dramatic downfall at age 33 either, but what do I know (so don’t quote me)
September 14, 2021 at 10:47 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 141 thread – Tuesday, September 14 at Mets #172487What a crazy win. Alex Reyes might have gotten back one of the wins he blew by holding the Mets scoreless in the bottom of the tenth (given new rules about extras). Can’t believe we pulled that out after not scoring top ten. Good win birds!
September 14, 2021 at 9:38 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 141 thread – Tuesday, September 14 at Mets #172444Well we got Gallegos but it didn’t go well
It’s tough to see this many slip away in the ninth but let’s keep grinding
It seems the minor league season finishing end of September instead of end of August this year changed the call up strategy
VEB made a comment that his approach seems to have changed in AAA. He seems to be less aggressive early on against the stiffer competition from what the VEB article says
It’s his first pro season and he’s made it all the way to AAA, so I don’t think it’s anything alarming or unexpected at this point
Another interesting development. Lane Thomas has a .327 average and .952 ops in an extremely small sample size with the Nationals
I didn’t see a spot for Thomas and still don’t regret the trade, but it’s just another example of a player having a hot start for a new team after leaving the Cards. Not trying to stir the pot, just an observation related to the thread
September 1, 2021 at 6:32 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 129 thread – Wed, Sep 1 at Reds (DH Game 2) #171426Bat challenge was interesting. I doubt it affected much. Happs throwing meatballs
September 1, 2021 at 2:06 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 129 thread – Wed, Sep 1 at Reds (DH Game 2) #171392And before launch angle obsession
September 1, 2021 at 1:57 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 129 thread – Wed, Sep 1 at Reds (DH Game 2) #171389Nice job by Cabrera taking two innings out
Goldy is trying to make a 300/370/900 season come from nowhere haha
Would be really nice to have that run we lost from Rondon pickoff, but who knows if AB plays out the same in that situation
Yepez is having a very impressive year. Read that article earlier and his year is even more impressive looking at the K/BB and the bad luck on batter balls. Maybe he’s a player maybe he’s not, but he’s sure a lot more than anyone figured he was when that Matt Adam’s trade was made
